So I Suggested To My Friend, Why Not Build A Bar In Your Backyard

He will be serving my all grain home brew:rockin: Of course I helped some along the way. We have yet to do a proper photo shoot of the entire job. I am glad I was allowed input on this great transformation:thumbs: The Before The After

    At Wit's end... Burnt wheat.

Direct firing of the mash, is something I rarely do. Your much better off getting that temp up on the hlt, and leave the mash to itself.

    220v HLT Conversion? Well Almost

Got the 220v outlet, got my hlt with welded collar and element installed. That is where I stopped several years ago. Now I want to go forward and do the in between. I want to get the 220 juice to the element with a thermostat. My ideal situation, is to put it on a timer so when I wake up...

What do you do with your spent grains?

They go in the canal behind my house. The fish and ducks devour the stuff

Crazy Stuff Found In Ingredients While Brewing

Not that kind of a nail, a steel nail about the size of a roofing nail. Imagine biting down on that sucker

Crazy Stuff Found In Ingredients While Brewing

While making a strong Belgian Ale, I was melting down some blocks of raw sugar, and found a large nail in one of the blocks! It was a block made by Goya. I have also had another rather large shipment of grain, upon close inspection was loaded with weavels. The supplier did replace that shipment.

Local Ale House Sells Sierra Nevada For $5.45

You should move, or drink only home brew. They pull it from the local distributor, and there cost is 135.00. So upon arrival they decide to mark it up 450%.

How to get my keg MLT to hold temp?

I would say, that a 5 degree loss for a 90 minute mash is negligible. The 5 wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I use a burner under my tun if I need to kick up the mash temp. The grain and the keg seem to hold temps very well.

Wildwest's brew lean-to (my almost dream build)

Great thread, I was lurking some more at the beginning. The progress is great to see! I really like what Chipotle restaurants have done with their wall treatments. They are utilizing tin roofing for the walls, and I think it looks killer! It might really save you some bucks, and should be...

15 gal conical I put together

Great thread, and it will be my inspiration to build a conical for my new fermentation fridge I just got.

    Weldless Spigot for Kettle

Weldless bulk head fittings suck! I tried and tried to no avail. Great having a leak start with a full 14 gallon boil going. Plus they trap all kinds of stuff, and cleaning is a royal pain. Why add to the work? Best bet, find a good welder who can do stainless, and get couplers welded on...

    Cheapest AG Vendor...

Crushed grain will last quite awhile! Dry air conditioned storage will keep the grain good for quite along time. I brew 13 gallon batches, and have four kegerators. So going through that much grain is not remotely a problem!:D

Is a Turkey Fryer propane burner enough?

Do yourself a favor, and buy weld fittings! Weldless fittings suck! They require maintenance, and leak! When you have a full boil, the last thing you want is a leak to start! A turkey burner is good enough to do full boils!

Is this brew pot too big?

As long as you don't make more than you can ferment and chill, it will never be too large!

    Cheapest AG Vendor...

I am down here in SE Florida, and there isn't squat for suppliers! I lost my supplier, who closed his doors! I did however find another supplier in Orlando. It is called Hearts Homebrew. I placed an order with them yesterday, and it hit my garage today! I got a 2 row 55lb bag for 48.99! I...
