    Pumpkin Ale gone wrong

Did you do a "tertiary fermentation" in order to allow the pumpkin sediment to drop?? The pumpkin beers I do I use a special blend of pumpkin pie spices and vanilla bean in the boil. The "pumpkin" flavor from canned pumpkin or roasted pumpkin is hardly worth the headache. And, yes I've done...

    Local brew shops

Ace is reducing it's store size . . . the liquor store will move into the newly created space, and the brew shop moves into the current liquor store space. The brewery and tap room will be where Maltose currently is.

    Dubbel at 1.020...

Belgian yeast strains prefer warmer fermentation temps (70 to 74). I have the Beer Captured bokk that has that recipe in it, and the FG should be 1.013 - 1.015. Having used THREE Wyeast packages (when the recipe only calls for one), it should have finished off nicely to that target with ease...

    Local brew shops

Definitely Maltose Express . . . . BTW . . they launched an online store back in December 2012 and offer UPS shipping anywhere in the country. Any orders being shipped to the Northeast and the Tri-State area, generally arrive the next day with UPS Ground service. They also do a nice job with...

Heady Topper clone - Maltose Express

The "Teddy Hopper" recipe that Maltose Express has was the result of the first cloning attempt for the beer. From I was told, it finished with a maltier base and provided a better over all balanced beer. The "Heady Topper" has some where between 6 to 8 hop additions in the boil, in addition to...

Bulk Malt, Group Buys in Connecticut

I guess you haven't been by Maltose for a long while. A 50# to #55 sack of grain will run you $50 to $65 depending of the maltster (Fawcett, Rahr, Weyermann, Breiss, Dingeman's, Crisp, Munton's) Specialty grains split into 1lb bags are $2/lb, but if you go into to the shop (or online) for a...

Heady Topper clone - Maltose Express

The brewery is going to be separate from the store - not "IN" the store. As I heard it, the shop is going to move next door to where the liquor store is - and the brewery will be where the brew shop is currently. I guess the plan is to open a tap room to serve pints and sell growlers, and...

Where to buy MAlTS in CT?

I just came across this thread. . . . I've been getting 50 lbs sacks of grains from Maltose for $50 to $65 per. The more expensive sacks are the grains that come from England and Belgium so it makes sense for a slightly higher price ( and those are actually 55 lbs ). Since they've started...

Heady Topper clone - Maltose Express

Just wondering what your issue would be with Maltose opening their own brewery? It's been done a number of times before by others. They've got a number of great original recipes for the brewery - currently 10 or 11 as I've been told).I've had their American Pale ale (called "Pedestrian Ale")...

Sooooo . . . . . three years later, how's the system holding up? Have you added any kind of automation or changed your design?
