    Long Island, NY supplies

I got to Brooklyn Kitchen Labs under the B.Q.E. They have pretty much everything I need and they will order anything you want if they don't have it.

    Priming with brown sugar?

AWESOME! No, really. Tho I think you should wait as long as possible before cracking them open. For some reason mine took quite a while (over a month) to prime. The early bottles really tasted of brown sugar but the one I cracked today tasted LOVELY!

I am living the dream! Apprenticing at a brewery.

"I'll be sticking around there until I have everything set-up to open my own doors in Brooklyn or Queens next year." What an amazing experience! Please keep us up to date on your future endevours!

    Best Beer Memory

One summer night in 1983 my two friends and I were kicking around the neighborhood and saw a brown paper bag sitting by the curb, it looked full of something. That something was a six pack of COLD Michelob! Someone must've forgotten to bring it in after hopping, oh well, their loss was our gain...

    Empty fermenter anxiety

I too have been itching to brew since bottling a couple of weeks ago. Been busy plus a small vacation (!) has got me a little anxious. I may grab a kit for the first time to get things moving along....

    Yeast Nutrient??

One of the Brewmasters from Brooklyn Brewery gave a class on yeasts where I work (Brooklyn Kitchen Labs, we have a home brew section now!) last night (I couldn't make it) and suggested, I am told, that extract brewers could greatly benefit from using Yeast Nutrient. I suppose a big started would...

    Yeast Nutrient??

I'm an extract brewer and have recently been told that I should use Yeast Nutrient for a stronger yeast and, I suppose, a more complete fermentation. Do any of you have experience or knowledge of this stuff? Thanks in advance!

Question: I've gone to all grain shall I ever go back?

I definitely feel looked down upon by my AG buddies. They are always sayin' "man, you GOTTA go ALL-GRAIN" while they sip one of my extract beers. They seem to genuinely enjoy my beer and my forays into lagering last year got them working in that direction. I know that I will get into AG in due...

    Dumping Bad Batches....

I recently dumped half a batch of a seemingly infected Stout because I needed the bottles. I'm not too optimistic for those I hadn't dumped but I'm holding on to them none the less.

    Help!!!

My friend and I brewed three 5 gallon batches of the same ESB yesterday. One is in a Better Bottle and the other two are in buckets. Here's the problem, one of the buckets seems to be malfunctioning. The airlock doesn't show activity. We opened it and there was krausen so we switched the lid...

    Brooklyn Brewery Black Ops?

One of the brewmasters dropped off a couple at my work. I haven't had a chance to taste it yet but others have given it a thumbs up. Apparently it hasn't been released even in Brooklyn yet.
