    ANOTHER Basement Brewery Build

Great video series. I am also in the process of converting a (Columbus) basement to my indoor electric brewery and was wondering how you are handling make-up air with you vent/hood? My brewing area is near our furnace and hot water heater and I have a CO monitor, but am looking for ideas for...

What craft beer do you secretly despise?

Great Lakes Christmas Ale (and most other Christmas ale). Tastes like I'm drinking a glass of potpourri.

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

Bottoms Up, I've been on this forum for a number of years and this may be the most comprehensive write up of a brewing process that I've ever read. Many thanks to you and CSI for taking the time to consolidate all of this information. I've brewed this twice and it is a wonderful beer. Thanks...

Turning 25, can I make a beer that will last 25+ years?

I drank a sip (read drop) of an 80 year old Guinness and it was nasty. Oxygen will turn your beer into something very sherry like in 10 years. 25 is a long time. Even good wine, that is not a cellaring bottle, will be bad after 10 years.

REALLY OLD full bottle of Guinness.

Sorry for the long absence. I've taken a couple more pictures and, more importantly, tasted it. So for those who are looking at the harp, here is a closer look that shows the older style. I was planning on detailed "tasting notes" but it was not drinkable. Able to be tasted? Yes. It was...

REALLY OLD full bottle of Guinness.

Thanks to mtnagel I think we may have narrowed the dates to between 1935 and 1939. The tax stamp on the bottle is from the back. It's a State of Ohio tax stamp on malt beverages for 3/4 cent. The tax was increased in 1939 to 1.5 cents and there was a new stamp issued. So these bottles of...

REALLY OLD full bottle of Guinness.

Thanks for the link! Since there is an entire case of them I do plan to open one and (possibly) try it. Not expecting much but I can't pass up the opportunity to try 40 or 50 year old Guinness. I'll post tasting notes. Or possibly just smelling notes. :) Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

REALLY OLD full bottle of Guinness.

Hi guys. My friend was cleaning out their neighbor's basement and came across a full case of Guinness 6 1/3 ounce bottles from who knows when. They are all full! Any idea on how to date these? She also asked if there are collectors out there that would want them. I told her I'd ask here...

    New Basement Brewery Build

This is an awesome build! I am also in C-Bus and brewing in my garage in February es no bueno. I have been eyeing our basement laundry room for two years looking to do exactly what you have done. What are you doing about return air for the exhaust hood? I'm a little nervous about CO in my...
