Ingredients aren't really the problem. Its carboys that we don't have enough of, and we're a no dues club at the moment. Some people are willing to buy their own carboy, but others don't want to get invested until they've tried it out already.

I was using a dry yeast and I dont believe it activated. Its 2 days after brewday and I see no activity in my airlock. Is there any way to be sure? What can I do from here? I tried to activate the yeast by boiling a cup of water and a tablespoon full of sugar and then introducing the yeast...

Take the initiative. Speak to somebody from student organizations and look into setting one up. Our system was very easy and its been an extremely rewarding process so far. Its a great way to encourage the growth of Homebrewing.
