    Beer Bread

Ok so I just got my mom's old bread maker and I've been really excited about making all kinds of bread. I just made a batch of beer bread with some Flying Dog Wildeman. It was delicious, but the beer flavor was a little weak. Anyone have any good recipes for beer bread?

My prototype label for my prototype brew

Ok the design is a punch card and each black space is essentially a "1". Each white space a "0". There are 8 spaces each representing a bit and for every 8 bits you have a byte. Each line is a byte of storage essentially. The byte is in binary and you can translate that with an ASCII chart...

Does UV light kill wild airborne yeast?

I think it could be useful for certain things, certainly not sterilizing everything in your kitchen. But if you had a cabinet set up with a reflective surface inside and high strength UV bulbs to put your caps, wine thief, bottles, auto siphon, tubing, and stuff like that in it would make a...

    Warming the Carboy

Ok I've got my Jackie Brown Ale sitting down in my friend's basement fermenting away, very very slowly. The temp my carboy is reading is at about 56, I have a feeling if I want to meet my deadline on this brew I'm going to have to keep it a little warmer. So far I have propped it up off of...

    old wine barrels

I didn't mean try and keep the smoke in the barrel while it ferments, I just thought it would get a nice coating of flavor on the wood that would then e transfered to the beer

    Kolsch questions

my basement is getting too cold to ferment with most ale yeasts, I've got some Kolsch yeast but not a huge fan of the style personally, I prefer something darker. What I'm getting at here is what other styles could I make with this yeast?

    old wine barrels

This thread made me think, what about pumping smoke into the barrel for a while before you fill it, I think you could impart a little more flavor that way.

    Cleanest Ale Yeast

Has anyone attempted to use a champagne yeast? I have been using that for my Apfelweins so far and it's extremely clean. I'm curious what it would do in a beer.

    Near ghetto brew

A nice simple recipie I decided to try and worked very well. I took a bottle of simply apple and mixed that with a can of apple juice concentrate (old orchard I think.) Threw it into a growler and pitched some white star champagne yeast (1/2 a packet.) left it in the basement with an...

    Kolsch Yeast Question?

Big Boss Brewery (North Carolina) has an Avenging Angel Kolsch that is rather good, though I prefer the Monkey Bizz-ness rustic belgian farmhouse ale.
