    Sparging and Draining Times

With batch sparging, do you stir the grains after the mash and before draining the first runnings or only when adding the sparge water? I have always just stirred the sparge water and grains. (of course stirring everything real well when first adding strike water to mash)

how long should i let my starter go

I've done starters for lots of ales and have always let it go for 2 days, sometimes 1 if I forget or don't get to it. I usually make smaller starters (around 1 qt) and don't decant so if you want to build the cell count up some more and crash the temp in the fridge to settle it out 3-4 days...

Online Ordering of yeast during winter months

I typically order yeast online in the spring and fall and buy at the LHBS during winter and summer. Never had a problem with this, and maybe I can order safely in the winter - just have not tried...

Diacetyl Rest with WLP810 San Francisco Lager

Hello, I'm fermenting my first lager and wanted to know if anyone who has used WLP810 San Francisco Lager yeast has needed to perform a diacetyl rest with this strain, seeing as it has a recommended fermentation temperature much higher than most lager strains - 58-65 degrees F. I am...

Best way to post a Brutus build?

Definitely show us your build so far. As for the format, whatever works for you. This forum has the gallery feature built in, so I thought that was the best and most convenient method - I just posted a quick summary of mine with build materials, a few pics, then a link to the gallery with all...

Wyeast Scottish Ale yeast, hardly any krausen

I brewed a Scottish Ale two weeks ago and used White Labs WLP028. There was noticeably less krausen then I had ever had before with other strains - I used a 1L starter with an O.G. of 1.052. It still has another week or so before I bottle it, but there seemed to be normal airlock activity, and...

    Yeast Starter

Yep, just like Bensiff said that's fine to keep it in the fridge. I have done so once or twice and still achieved the desired attenuation and quick start to fermentation.

    GOSS Low-Pressure Propane Regulator

For sale is a new GOSS low pressure propane gas regulator. This is rated for 11" WC, so it is perfect for automated systems that use solenoid valves rated for the same pressures. I opened the packaging a little to examine the B-style fitting, but it has never been removed from the wrapper or...

    Wood Frame Brutus RIMS Project

Pretty much just went off of what others were doing. Like others say I think you can really mount them horizontal or vertical depending on your preference.
