    made a grain mill.

Your thread is now famous. Homebrewtalk just shared it on their Facebook page, and folks are asking questions there as well. http://m.facebook.com/#!/homebrewtalk?__user=1417927404

    Sanke Keg Washer build

Fantastic work, man! I've been thinking about seting up a sankey CIP system in the future. I don't have the space (or funding) for a dedicated rig like this, so I'll probably use my existing mash and boil keggles as the chemical brinks. I will be refering back to this thread when I tackle the...

    SB 2183 passed

My understanding is that the House will vote on this later today. If it passes, it will become law if the governor does not veto it (which he did not do for bill last year raising the allowable ABV to about 10%).

    vonZwicky's Mill Build

My appologies, Rerun. I completely missed your earlier bump of this thread. Urocyon, the wiring of electrical motors is a mystery to me as well. At the time, my neighbor drew a wiring diagram for me. When I wired it up as per his recommendation, the motor would hum, but not spin. This may...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

I finally reached a level of completion with this build that I feel ok showing it here: The build thread is here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/vonzwickys-mill-build-320061/ And the video that sums it up is here:

    vonZwicky's Mill Build

Ok, EMI did not like the use of "Sambrosa" in a malt mill video. I tried a few audio editing tricks to fool the man, but all to no avail. So I resigned myself to modifying the soundtrack. As of now, this link is not blocked: I will try to log on later in the day to edit this post with...

    vonZwicky's Mill Build

Sorry guys. I just realized that an audio sample I used is to blame. I think I can fix this, but it will have to wait until the morning. I will repost when I get it working.

    vonZwicky's Mill Build

Ok. This build is as finished as it's going to be for a while. Eventually I'm going to enclose the wiring, add safety guards, and perhaps build a custom hopper. When I do, I'll post my progress here. For now I'll leave you with this short video that sums up the build and the mill's first use...

    vonZwicky's Mill Build

Thanks deadboy. I daresay that along with some nice woodwork (many examples much finer than my own), there are a myriad of fantastic beers brewed by members of this forum. :mug:

    vonZwicky's Mill Build

This thread has been a loose end for a while, but it's time to pick it back up. Tomorrow is the first brew day in the new house so I've been putting this beast back together. I'll post a fresh video after we mill the inaugural brew.

Viperman, have you tried brewing this recipe again? I'd love to hear about it I you have.

Redhook Employee Dies After Keg Explodes

This is the greatest thing I've read all day. :rockin:

Redhook Employee Dies After Keg Explodes

That's been a big problem for breweries of any size. They all have a stack of other people's kegs, and there's as yet no cost effective way to sort and return them all to their rightful owners.

Redhook Employee Dies After Keg Explodes

It is indeed a very rare event, but it has happened. I did some digging a while back and was only able to find a couple of stories about keg related deaths. One was of a pub worker in the UK who had a keg explode in his face while unloading a truck. The other happened to a guy who brought his...

Redhook Employee Dies After Keg Explodes

I work at a local brewery and occasionally have to do the same kind of work this young man was doing. I'll be following this story for a while, because I want to know the exact circumstances behind it, to help protect my coworkers and myself from any similar event. I've never read or seen...

    vonZwicky's Mill Build

I appoligize for the lack of progress on this. I was out of town all weekend and now I'm starring down the barrel of a big move over the next couple of weeks. So most of my free time is spent packing boxes- I'm in homebrew limbo. I don't want to get anything started until after I get settled...

Red Hook Brewery worker killed by exploding keg.

I've worked at a local brewery for the last several years and I've seen a lot of kegs come back. Occasionally one will come back obviously ruptured from over-pressurization. I've seen a couple that haven't burst, but are domed out on top and bottom- I'm afraid of those. An older brewer I...

Red Hook Brewery worker killed by exploding keg.

I suspect that the keg was returned to the brewery in an already over-pressurized state. The handing, jostling, tapping, etc. just set it off. Using air to evacuate returned kegs is normal, but I doubt Red Hook uses excessive pressure for this.
