Mash pH Question (water report included!)

So as a professional science geek (molecular bio) I'm surprised that I haven't spent more time in this forum until recently. I emailed my local water authority and asked for the water report for my address, to which I got an awesome reply (I guess the water QA/QC get excited when you take an...

    5# CO2 Tank - Aluminum

$45 plus actual shipping from 06518. I'm calculating that it will weigh around 8lbs when packed (tare weight on the tank reads 7.5 lbs). Date on the tank is 2010, so it won't need a hydrotest until 2015.

Almost Time for First Brew. Quick Question.

Hi Guys, Well, looks like I'm getting a full kit from Midwest and an their Irish Red extract recipe for x-mas, and I've been counting the days before I can brew. I also got a really good deal on a 24 qt heavy duty (7 gauge) aluminum pot. I already know to boil to set the oxidation layer...

    New Brewer From CT

Hi Everyone, I'm thinking of getting a setup together soon, and have been reading quite a bit on this site and have read Palmer's How to Brew. It was a really awesome read and reminded me of my chemistry classes (which was both good and bad, haha). Anyway, I'm planning on setting up a basic...
