DIY Bottom Drain Boil Keggle Take 2 (no welding) with 3d printed parts

I spoke with a machinist and it would be possible with some modification. The tabs on the side are slightly sloped to be able to tighten down the new piece into the keg connection. This is apparently very difficult to do and ends up being fairly costly. That would be ideal though if I can...

DIY Bottom Drain Boil Keggle Take 2 (no welding) with 3d printed parts

Thanks for the thoughts!! I wanted something that didn't require welding, and was fairly easy to implement in most kegs, I.E. D System Sanke kegs. The nylon idea might work, I will look into that. Dupont has a Zytel Plus Nylon that might work. I need it to be able to withstand direct...

DIY Bottom Drain Boil Keggle Take 2 (no welding) with 3d printed parts

So some of you may remember my previous attempt at this and I had a fairly anti-climactic failure. here (https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/bottom-drained-keggle-small-budget-no-welding-317640/). Well I am at it again but I am using my 3d printer for prototype design, and I have a working part...

Bottom drained Keggle on a small budget, no welding.

Well JB Weld Is an epic FAIL. When tightening everything down I heard a crack... this was the result :-( JuanMoore's plan might be a better way to go... And before this I was getting pretty excited about my JB weld solution. :-)

Bottom drained Keggle on a small budget, no welding.

What another this? Another part of the union used to shield the jb weld part? The parts laid out The shield attached to the connector The sanke connector attached to the connector.

Bottom drained Keggle on a small budget, no welding.

@Juan Moore I like your connection style there:rockin:. My Sanke conection is a little different, is is beveled on the inside and flat on the outside. so a washer like that might be difficult to implement. I was going to do a test for the JB weld maybe use something (i.e. aluminum foil <-...

Bottom drained Keggle on a small budget, no welding.

Electric is a good possibility, im looking into it. Might be too expensive but the company next to the one I work for just went out and threw away a bunch of brand new electrical boxes, unions, wire and conduit that I saved from the dumpster. For now it is a great mlt. All I need is a false...

Bottom drained Keggle on a small budget, no welding.

Still deciding. I need to experiment with the jb weld to see if it will hold up to the heat of my burner. It says it can hold up to 600 f along with my silicon gaskets up to 550f. I may need a 5" diameter heat shield to block the flame from hitting the jb weld directly. I will experiment and...

Bottom drained Keggle on a small budget, no welding.

So after making a batch and siphoning out 10 gallons of wort a couple times I decided to embark on a quest to make a bottom drained keggle. Considering I dont a lot of money to put towards welding stainless steal (I.e. $20 wont get me very far) I decided to go a different route than most. Same...

RIP Cooler E-HLT... HELLOOOOOO Bottom Drain Keg E-HLT....

So I thought this is a great use for the Miller threaded style keg. (https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/how-remove-miller-threaded-keg-valve-not-retained-spiral-ring-76393/) I'm not sure if this would be easier or harder than the triclover but the connection would be secure on there. Any...

How do you get foam in a root beer?

So I know that this might sound a bit back alley, but what about non toxic liquid soap? 1/2 drop per liter and I can't taste it in root beer, but the foam stays. Ultimately you need a surfactant like yucca root extract(I couldn't find this anywhere), but that is what makes the bubbles stay...

    ball mill?

Has anyone ever tried a ball mill?? It is very easy to make and if used properly seems it could crush grain with no real problem except making a bit of flour :-/. Any thoughts?

    Happiness is: Home malting

Drying for 1-5 days (I don't think it can get too dry so a bit longer doesn't hurt) and then 2-6 hours kilning slowly bringing it up to 170f-210f. I have read no higher than 210f for pale but I don't know how strict that is once its dry the enzymes are a little more protected from heat.

    Mesquite Molasses Beer

Just a thought you might not need any spices. The mesquite has notes of cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla. With the prickly pears I think it would balance well with no other spices.

    Mesquite Molasses Beer

Not sure if the flour would work, it has the sugar but clarity would probably be an issue. Not sure about texture. There is also the issue of doughballs. Cost also seems high, but I can harvest myself so mine just cost time. Where do you live maybe there is a source somewhere within a short...

    Happiness is: Home malting

I put two 60 watt light bulbs turned on in the bottom of the oven with the oven off. I also turned the oven light on. I spread the grain on baking sheets in as thin a layer as possible and put a thermometer on the grain to keep track of the temp. This worked well for me. I also mixed the...

    Happiness is: Home malting

If the tumble dry was too hot with too much moisture still it may denature the enzymes(but on the same note it would have started converting the starches that were available, maybe accounting for the .008 grav) I had good luck drying in the oven for 2 days at 110f/43c (it is kinda funny that...
