    How's this reciepe?

I'm definitely leaning more toward a wine with this batch. Just because I get a really really bad hangover with the sweet stuff. My roommate likes it but I'm just not a big fan, the home brew store is getting in more fresh cider later this month and I think I'll go Ale yeast with that.

    How's this reciepe?

Not my first time making cider, but nearly. So here's a few questions I have yet to get a clear answer on. I bought 5 gallons of fresh pressed cider (3 Fuji 2 Granny Smith) from my homebrew store. My plan is to add a pound of brown sugar to the mix, then toss in my champagne yeast. Let it...

    Carbonated in fermenter... what now?

Well, I accidentally put too much water in the pan I used as a blowoff valve. And it looks like the gas couldn't escape so my cider is now carbonated. It was bubbling along for 3 or 4 days before and the bubbling slowed significantly but I figured that was just the natural process. I've since...

What is this yeast and will it work for cider?

Well, the airlock is bubbling away happily at around 62 degrees. I guess I'll check it out in a few days and see how it's doing.

What is this yeast and will it work for cider?

Not sure if this helps at all but I took a picture of the package. I'm assuming it's just a no-name dry ale yeast. Well, it'll be interesting to see how it turns out!

Free 5 Gallon Food Grade Buckets

Hmm, yeah I feared the pickle smell would be unbeatable. I'll head to the Acme bakery this afternoon and see what they have, icing and the like would be considerably easier to get out (and at the end of the day it's just sugar, so more alcohol content right?).

Free 5 Gallon Food Grade Buckets

I stumbled across this article on Instructables and it led me to head on down to my local burger joint and ask the manager if he had any spare buckets. To my amazement he was more then happy to give me 4 food grade buckets they had stacked up in back (including lids with gaskets!). There's even...

What is this yeast and will it work for cider?

Well, I just re-hydrated it and tossed it in to 2.5 gallons of Acme Cider. It's pasteurized but the only preservatives in it is Vitamin C (I read somewhere that this is OK?). I'll snap a couple pictures this afternoon, assuming there's something interesting to look at.

What is this yeast and will it work for cider?

First off, long time lurker, first time poster. I've been brewing for a few months now (just finished my second batch). In my last order from Midwest Supplies they threw in an extra packet of dry yeast with my American Ale 20 minute boil kit. The only marking on the packet is RPB. It's similar...
