Russian River on tap in Sacramento?

Hello! I've been brewing for years, and I've been pining for Pliny for almost as long. However, I've been living in South Carolina, where nothing Russian River is to be found. However! I just moved to Sac, and I have a good feeling that I'll be able to find good NoCal beers here! I'd be...

Best beer stores in raleigh -- commercial beer selection, not homebrewing

I went to Peace Street Market and was quite happy! Still no Russian River beers to be found, but I guess that is too much to ask. I thought their selection overall was outstanding. I picked up a couple of Dogfish Head 4-packs (they don't distribute in my area yet). I'll go back to try some...

Thanks! Somehow this thread got posted twice. Weird. I appreciate the advice.

    carbonation bottle conditioning ???

Yeah, this happened to me recently with a porter (after just two weeks), but fortunately it was only a couple of bottles. The rest were fine. I've never had this issue before, so I'm not too worried about it. However, you might want to pop one or two more to make sure you aren't creating...

Best beer stores in raleigh -- commercial beer selection, not homebrewing

Thanks for the tip! I definitely don't mind driving to Durham. Not to hijack my own thread, but are there any upcoming homebrew or other beer-related events in the area that happen during the week (Mon - weds. evenings) in the next 3-4 weeks? (Also, @KingBrianI: that is an awesome list of...

How long is too long to "Dry Hop"...

FYI, I just accidentally dry hopped a Pliny The Elder clone for a full SIX (6) weeks, and that was with 6.75 oz of hops, and it turned out AMAZING. No off flavors, vegetals, whatever. I'm not saying that this is good practice, just that it worked this time.

Best beer stores in raleigh -- commercial beer selection, not homebrewing

OK, edit, Team Beverage is NOT close to where I'll be staying. After google-mapping it, I realize that I was misinformed. Is it still worth visiting if it is 25-30 minutes away? I'll be staying near Lynn Lake (near Creedmore & Lynn St.)

Best beer stores in raleigh -- commercial beer selection, not homebrewing

Hey all, I'll be working in Raleigh during the week for the next month or so, and I'm wondering where I should go for the best selection of local, national, and world beers. I've heard that Peace Street Market (near where I'll be working) and Team Beverage (near where I'll be staying) are...

Best beer stores in raleigh -- commercial beer selection, not homebrewing

Hey all, I'll be working in Raleigh during the week for the next month or so, and I'm wondering where I should go for the best selection of local, national, and world beers. Any suggestions? (FYI, I've already found J. Betski's, which has an AMAZING selection of rare German beers. If...

    Best Wash DC area brewery?

If can get to downtown DC (Dupont Circle area), you have to try out the Brickskeller -- they don't always have them all in stock, but their beer list is over ONE THOUSAND strong. I tried some of my very first belgians there, 10 years ago, and I've never looked back. Also, Dogfish Head (in...

No carbonation in bottle after six weeks -- what to do?

4.5oz, standard for Austin Homebrew kits.

No carbonation in bottle after six weeks -- what to do?

I'm actually considering that at this point. :mug: But that won't solve the stuck fermentation issue.

No carbonation in bottle after six weeks -- what to do?

I suppose I could decant (carefully!) back into a secondary fermenter and see if I can get my FG down a bit by pitching more yeast. I measured it at 1027 or so. I figured that was a bit high, but it doesn't really taste that far off, other that being a little sweeter than I was expecting (more...

No carbonation in bottle after six weeks -- what to do?

Well, dang. Uncapping, sprinkling, and re-capping definitely sounds like the way to go. But here's a question. I did have an OG of 1089 (pretty freaking good guess, mojotele!), so there may be a lot of fermentables left in there in addition to the priming sugar. So, if I add yeast and then...

No carbonation in bottle after six weeks -- what to do?

I've opened two bottles -- one this past sunday and one about 2.5 weeks ago -- both flat. I used the WLP-500 Trappiste yeast, and I actually pitched two vials of it. It still didn't finish as dry as I would like, but the alcohol came to about 7.9%. Not the 9.2% I was expecting. I don't have...

No carbonation in bottle after six weeks -- what to do?

I added the priming sugar like I always do -- boil the sugar in a cup of water, let it cool, pour it in the bottom of a bucket, and then siphon the beer from the carboy into the bucket with the end of the siphon submerged and causing a slow circular motion. It should be very well mixed. Maybe...

No carbonation in bottle after six weeks -- what to do?

Thanks so much for your help, mojotele. No residue at all in the bottom of the bottles. I'm worried about adding even more sugar to the bottles at this point -- I already primed it. Out of curiosity -- why do you say "absolutely do not pour back in the bucket"?

No carbonation in bottle after six weeks -- what to do?

The beer has been consistently between 60 and 70 since it was bottled, possibly up to 72 or something. I used 4.5 oz priming sugar (standard in Austin Homebrew kits). I've had great, great luck with AHS kits -- this is the first time it hasn't worked for me. The beer doesn't smell or taste...

No carbonation in bottle after six weeks -- what to do?

Hi all, I brewed a Chimay Blue Clone (Austin Homebrew extract kit) a while back and left it in the primary fermenter for two months. I then bottled it (after adding the priming sugar) and it has been six weeks. when I popped one open yesterday (after refridgerating for two days) it had zero...

Where to get Pliny The Elder/Younger in Seattle/West Seatte?

Hey everyone! I'm from South Carolina, but I'm visiting my sister (and her new baby boy!) in Seattle this week, all week. I've read about Russian River Brewing, but never tried any of their (apparently) heavenly brews. Where is a good place for me to try any of their stuff, either retail...
