    My BCS-460 eHERMS build

Rather than source a new AC/DC power supply for the BCS and the relay board I have found a cheaper option: an old cell phone charger. The one I have is rated at 5vDC 890mA. I think I will use the cell phone charger for the board and use the power supply that came with the BCS for the BCS. It...

    My BCS-460 eHERMS build

Ah Ok. How does this sound. I'll fuse a single supply to the relays at something like 10A (rating for the relays). Then I'll fuse the individual pump outputs after the board. I have to look it up but I think 2A each is plenty. About the relays. Now that I have reread that (I don't know how many...

    My BCS-460 eHERMS build

rcm_rx7: Thanks. I got the box from Mouser, but they are available from most suppliers. The matching back plate was nearly the cost of the box though. beluedog: You have me worried . I chose this board based on this...

    My BCS-460 eHERMS build

Yeah. After taking the better part of a year to collect the parts I have started to build. Just a little slow at updating this thread! :o I have updated the wiring diagram (again). Just some slight changes with the main switch - instead of only controlling the BCS power supply it controls the...

    My BCS-460 eHERMS build

It has been a while since my last post! Not so much interest here, huh? Anyway, between sourcing parts and after a long summer I am finally starting to build. I have an updated wiring diagram (below). I have changed the E-stop circuit a bit based on the thread located here...

    Auberins external heat sinks

Thanks for the offer I3asturd but I am looking for heat sinks I can seal to the outside of the panel. Trying to keep everything water and wort tight!

    Auberins external heat sinks

I am searching for a external heat sink for 2 SSRS. Anybody have experience with these external heat sinks from Auberins? http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_30&products_id=224 http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_30&products_id=244...

    My BCS-460 eHERMS build

I have been wanting to go electric for a long time now. I have been accumulating parts and finally decided on using the BCS-460 for control. Please don't try to change my mind, it has already been purchased! I still have a long way to go so let's start with the wiring diagram. The system will...

    Brewtarget hop order?

I am a new user of Brewtarget and it is very nice :) The price is OK too ;) Thank you! Is there a way to get hop additions grouped and ordered according to time on the printed recipe page? Even though I have the hop additions ordered by time on the 'hops' tab, when I go to the print...

    counterflow chiller and vinegar

I have an old counterflow chiller that I am cleaning up. The outer tubing is transparent vinyl and there is some visible bluish green corrosion and mineral deposit in the water side of the chiller. Never was too concerned about cleaning that part... So for the 'beer side' of the chiller I did...

How do I get this out?

The hard way would be to turn it upside down, fish something small enough and strong enough through it, then pull. ...or...what he said. That looks like a much better idea!

    quick(ish) disconnects

I was considering those. They would work nicely but with stainless hose barbs and other fittings they would be more expensive than the camlocks.

    Stainless Camlocks review

Is everybody using either the Type A or Type F threaded male adapters with the Type C female with hose barb? There does not seem to be very good product descriptions on their site. What type of gasket do they come with? I notice you can buy replacement gaskets too (Buna N, EPDM, Viton).

    quick(ish) disconnects

Thanks for the quick replies. Those camlocks look great. Great price too. Sold! Almost... I've got time to think about it. They are sold out. Probably all the HBTers buying them up?

    quick(ish) disconnects

I am using 1/2" ID silicone tubing and I want to have the ability to disassemble everything for cleaning so I need removable connections. These do not need to be really 'quick' because I do not plan on making or breaking connections during a brew session (only at the end of the day to clean)...

    Priming sugar

Bulk food stores sometimes carry corn sugar / dextrose. I usually buy at the Bulk Barn. I have seen it a grocery store too. Turbinado sugar can also be used but adds some flavour - actually tried a side by side comparison when bottling an oatmeal stout. Maybe more noticeable in other styles?

    Input on using natural gas?

Thanks Sawdustguy. Very nice DIY for gas control! Really liked your RIMS for dummies as well. I want to do something similar without PIDs, but with either a BCS-460 or custom programming and CPU relay controllers. ...and I hear they only serve Bud Light Lime in hell. But I do take safety...

    Input on using natural gas?

I am designing my new 10gal brewery and plan on building it in the garage which has living space above (bedroom). The garage is relatively small, but has a garage door and a regular door at the back. I am undecided about natural gas or electric. If I decide on natural gas I will have the work...

    "Isomerization" in Hops???

It is not the volume of water that affects hop utilization, but the concentration of dissolved sugars in that water. Basically hop utilization in the boil (isomerization) is inversely proportional to the gravity of the boil. So a more diluted wort (full boil) increases hop utilization.. A more...

    in southern Ontario

Ah, bradsul, I think I understand your lack of homebrew. Trout season just ended, and now the brewing season begins :D I thought Gilbertson & Page was a wholesaler? They sell to the public too?
