    Dual Chamber Chest Freezer

I know I'm a little late to this thread, but a friend and I have done exactly what you're talking about and it works great! We just partitioned off about 1/3 of the freezer on the compressor-hump side using R5 foam insulation. Then we have a temperature probe (one of those really tiny 3-pin...

Getting started with electric brewing: to PID or not to PID

Haha, yes, I've read enough electric brewing threads on here to know all about GFIs. Unfortunately I have the old 3 wire setup (no ground) so I have to put one in the panel itself. I agree that the electric kettle has some kind of PWM, but wouldn't that require a DC voltage source? I don't...

Getting started with electric brewing: to PID or not to PID

I really like this idea. I'm in a similar situation to that of the original poster right now. I live in a relatively small 2nd floor apartment where brewing outside is huge pain. I know I won't be living here forever, so I want a relatively inexpensive and, most importantly, small and simple...

    Starter blow-off

No, the starter is still in the flask. It's cold-crashing in the fridge right now. I'm not so concerned with the flask itself because I can put really hot water in it. Right now I just want to clean the crud off the surface of the stir plate itself.

    Starter blow-off

Well, I forgot to add some of those magic anti-foam drops to my starter wort and it blew some krausen through the foil top that I had on the flask. It wasn't so bad and I let the starter finish as it should, but now I'm left with a stir plate with a bunch of hardened yeast / wort on it. Any...

    BeerSmith recipe export template

I have always exported my BeerSmith recipes to an htm file and stored them on an old web server I have. This way I always have a backup of what I brew and I can look at the recipe from anywhere where there is internet access. But, the default htm format that BeerSmith uses doesn't exactly look...

    Online Brewing Software

WillPall - I have had the same thought numerous times now. I still think it's a great idea, but I also think that there is a very good reason that the current selection of online brew recipe software is as limited as it is. Quality web software that looks and feels like it's a native app is...
