Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Bourbon Vanilla Porter (AG)

Won a blue ribbon with this one. Just added some bourbon soaked toasted oak chips in secondary, along with the regular bourbon addition prior to kegging. Had to make my own brown malt at the time, roasted in the oven at 350 degrees, and crushed with a rolling pin. My local now carries brown...

What is optimal aeration time in yeast lag phase?

Get an adjustable C. A.P timer and an electric solenoid valve.. set it however you want... 5 mins every hour or whatever blows your skirt up. When I run yeast in a stressful high alcohol environment I just run an aquarium pump for a day or so non stop... Works great.

I Had My First Lucid Dream

I fly all the time, and I mean ALL the time. I have found the closer to waking time the less distance I fly. I attribute that to the my body waking up and feeling the pressure of the blankets. I dunno. I will say the majority of my dreams are "Lucid" I didn't know the name and just thought...

Many all-grains .... first stuck sparge, first time using braid. Coincidence?

Ditto on not opening the valve all the way open. I only crack mine about 1/2 to 3/4 open. When I open it all the way I tend to get a stuck sparge.

I am by no means particular in my brewing process. I enjoy the day, have a few beers and brew away. I don't get stressed about much when I am brewing. So my effiency ranges from 70-80. I usually hit right around 70 most of the times, without really any effort or attention to detail. Cheers

You probably know this but. I always dump my water in about 10 degrees over my strike temp and let the cooler absorb some of the heat from the water. Once it cools to strike temp I add the grains. I never lose more than a degree over an hour with this method, even on 5 gallon batches in the...
