    Right on Homebrew Talk

I haven't been to this site in 6 years and it's still an active community! Keep it up! This is going to get me fired up and back to breit's done. Taken a break for the kiddos but it may be time to teach the little ones how done.

Best bar in Vegas to get a "good" beer?

I know I've seen this in the forum before but how about an update. I'm leaving in the morning for a four day conference and need a watering hole with "good" beer on the strip. Any ideas? I'm staying at Caesars so in stumbling distance would be nice but beggars can't be choosers.

    Are corny lids universal?

I may need to replace a lid on a pinlock keg since the handle lock thing is all bent and it doesn't have a pressure release. I noticed there are sorts of different models. Is a lid a lid or do they all have a slightly different opening. Also can you replace pinlock posts with ball lock posts?

Question to the brewers getting really high efficiency

When are you taking the volume measurement for the amount of wort? Preboil, post boil, in the fermenter? I've been measuring it in the fermenter so when I have a really hoppy beer with a lot of trub my efficiency will suffer. I might even through out as much as a gallon of trub if it hasn't...

    Starsan and a Spray Bottle

Well I just brewed my first batch with the Starsan and a spray bottle technique. Usually I mix a 5 gallon bucket and soak everything that comes in contact post boil. That seems a little anal though so I decided to try a little more economical approach. I cleaned everything really well with...

    Back to Brewing

Well it may not have been that long since my last brew but it sure seems like it. Back in February I brewed a SWMBO Slayer to be ready for my SWMBO after 9 long months of sobriety. It was good and its gone. And today is to prove that brewing can continue even after you have kids. I don't know...

India Blonde Ale & Belgian Pale Ale

I had two recipes last time I went to the LHBS. A Two Hearted Clone that I've done before and turned out excellent and a Belgian Blonde (SWMBO Slayer). I always have them crush the grains and put them in a single bag that they mark with a sharpie for each recipe. Well this time I think they...

    Beer Recipator Carbonation Calculation

I've been playing with this for a couple of days and haven't really figured out the problem. I was trying to get the same oz per gallon the Beer Recipator came up with but I was always off by 10% or so. Here is was I did for the calculation: ((Desired CO2 - Dissolved CO2) x .49oz) x Gallons...

    Does brewing stop after kids?

I just got back from lamaze class and finished dry hopping my Two Hearted clone and was wondering, does brewing stop after birth? I have one "safe" weekend left to brew my welcome back off the wagon present for my wife (SWMBO Slayer). I brewed the first a while back but its not going to make...

What is going on (yeast pitched at bottling)?

I just pitched a pack of windsor in preparation for bottling a few days from now. It immediately started forming a krausen and started fermenting again within 1 minute. It started at 1.088 and when I checked it last it was stable at 1.024. Its a 90 shilling so that's about right. Anyone ever...

    Windsor for bottleing Wee Heavy

I've got a pack of Windsor dry yeast that is probably 2 months old that I was going to use for bottling. It hasn't been refrigerated but its been in my basement at about 60F the entire time. Is it still good and is it a good match for the Scottish Strong Ale? I've never pitched yeast just...

    Mountain Lion in Missouri

Out of pure luck I was able snap this picture from about 250 yards last weekend. I got the picture of the print 3 or 4 weeks earlier so he has been hanging around for awhile. I was so far away I didn't know what I had seen until I got home and zoomed in on the computer. Full Size Image...

    Manufactured HERMS?

Is there a pre manufactured HERMS setup that anyone is selling? I thought I remembered a post a while back where there was one that was being used for test batches by some micro brewerys. Price is no object.
