    Two Batches

My second brew, an IPA, did the same thing. After 36 hours I was panicking. After 48 it was going crazy. Let it ride man:rockin:

    It's Awesome!!!!

Just drew a pint from my second batch, an IPA, it is freaking awesome!!!!! I hadn't brewed in several years, and then only two kit beers, but I sure did this time! I brewed two batches initially, a day apart. The first was a nut brown and it was decent, although a little sweet. I was waaaay...

    remote tap setup

Brine does for sure. When I cool my wort I cool it in the sink with ice and plenty of salt. It seems to get mighty col, colder than ice water alone anyway. R/Cam

Pics of my first attempt at brewing.

Pretty cool Bro! I hadn't brewedin about 5 years since the last time, and I recently started again. I am ate up with it pretty bad now. I have brewed three in the last six weeks and hopefully I'll get a couple more done this week and can slow down, and drink some soon! It is a good time...

Good place for a starter kit

I pieced my gear together from my LHBS and it came out slightly under the cost of thier "Starter Kit". I did add in another 6.5 carboy and a few other little bits and pieces. All told I spent about $125 for 2 of the carboys, 5ft hose, a couple of airlocks, a carboy cap, bottle filler, caps...

    Yeast Question

Muchos Gracias Gents! I have done some reading and will prolly wash it out soon. The monkey on my back was too heavy and I tried a small bit of the nut brown ale in the corny earlier. Of course it is still flat as can be, but tasted pretty well. I have read enough of David's posts to know...

    Where am I going wrong

In a normal 5g batch, how much Irish moss goes in? Is it recipe type based or a standard (relatively) amount? R/Cam

    Yeast Question

Hey Folks, What a day! I finally finished my nut brown ale today (first time brewing in almost five years), and racked into a corny:mug: I also transferred my IPA from primary to secondary. Now that I have an open carboy I'll brew again tomorrow, I think a red of some sort. Anyhow, I...

rut row...I think I may have done something wrong

This is kinda funny for me as I posted the same worry about a week or two ago. Mine was a thin ring of the bubbles around the edge of the wort. I was so into the throes of worrying that I took pictures and posted 'em for folks to look at. I'll say this about the people that frequent these...

Would this work well for lagering

That's what I'm asking Saint Nick for this year :mug:

    target gravity not met

That's the same thing that has happened to my nut brown ale. I have had it secondary for 10 days now. I checked it this AM and it has dropped .007. That puts me at 1.013, only 1 or 2 more and I'll rack into a keg. It is a slow process (relativle, of course), but it seems to be chugging along...

    How much are you paying....

I found a spot, $20. I don't mind paying that, but if I can find it cheaper I'd rather save some $$$$. Thanx for good gouge.

    How much are you paying....

Sorry folks, I thought I was in a different section (too much HB while typing I suppose). Thanx for pointing me back to the straight and narrow. From the replies I gather it will be relativly painless at the counter. Thanx for you help and insight. Hope everyone has a great week!! R/Cam

    How much are you paying....

to have a 5lb bottle filled? This is my first run at barrelling the brew and I just received my bottle. I am assuming (from my MIG experience) that it will run around $20, is this relatively close? R/Cam

    What is this stuff?

Seen it, ignored it. All was well.

    Yeast Question

I concur. I have'nt HB in a few years and just recently started, so I may be stepping outside of my box. However, I never used a WC previously, and am not using one now. I have never brewed bad beer, and alothough it is inevitable that sooner or later I will, I don't forecast the wort pre-pitch...

    Is this normal?

Gracias HB experienced one (only meant respectfully)! I figured I was just burning calories on nothing, but I wanted to be sure. The folks on this board have been EXTREMELY helpful, you certainly have. I have the ingredients for another brew (IPA) ready to go for this weekend. My sweety...
