    Vitamix to crush grain?

You could always try it, but if it was me I wouldn't waste my time. My Vitamix pretty much destroys everything I put in it. I have the grain blade unit and it is made to make flour. I suppose you could put in a small amount and pulse it, but you would have a tough time making a consistant batch.

    Little help on 1st brew

Don't fret too much, just follow the steps and let it fully carbonate. No doubt you will open bottles before they are ready, we have all done that. Also, if it doesn't clear up, don't sweat it, just try to figure out what to do in your process to work on that. It is normal to stress about your...

    Welding

Another vote for the Hobart Handler 140. Unless you think you'll be welding thicker stuff, this machine will do most things for around your house. My brother had bought the HF machine and what a POS it turned out to be. The HH140 is in every way superior. We bought used on Craigslist, have...

Beer Tools Pro vs. Beer Alchemy

I like that idea too. As a new brewer, I think it would be handy. btw, this thread made up my mind on which software I should go with, that would be BA. I've always liked developers of any kind (software, mechanical whatever) to be active in popular forums. Steve, thanks for that. Cheers...

First A.G. Batch went off Sunday...

Yeah, I hear you on that one. I've spent tons of time watching videos and reading, but nothing beats some hands on. I had a great time, but will certainly do some things a little different next time.

First A.G. Batch went off Sunday...

Hey, you are making beer, that is what counts. I did my first all-grain Sunday too. Learned a few things along the way, number one: Don't brew on playoff Sunday! I also boiled off too much, I ended up with about 4.6 gallons. I decided to leave it alone. I brewed a take off of Janets Brown Ale...
