    Raspberry Pi for fermentation control

Hey everybody. I've been out of the brewing game for a good 3 years...just now starting to get my gear back together. I used to use a Raspberry Pi running BrewPi, an Arduino Uno and a PowerSwitch Tail (power cord with a relay built-in) for fermentation temperature control and monitoring, but it...

Need advice on wall taps in the kitchen

We're building a house on a hillside, which means I have TONS of "crawl space". At the lowest point under the house, it'll be about 4 feet from the ground to the bottom of the floor joists. Anyway, I want to build a level platform and put a freezer under there and have 4 taps in one of the...

    Undercarbonated bottles

I've opened a couple of bottles and they've been undercarbonated. Can I pop them all open and add more sugar?

    Brewcam

So, I've been messing around with my Raspberry Pi that's running BrewPi. I now have a live brewcam. Not much going on right now, but if you watch for a few seconds, you'll likely see a bubble or two pop. Primary fermentation is just about done...gonna double check tomorrow and get it going...

    I think the yeast died

I pitched my yeast on July 10. It was old and out of date but I thought I'd try it anyway. The airlock started bubbling after about 24 hous, but it only lasted 12 or so hours. Today when I moved the beer to the secondary fermenter, I tossed in the hydrometer to check FG. It hasn't moved from...

    Vintage Kegerator Project

I purchased an old GE fridge this past Monday evening. It was built in 1956. In the realm of vintage fridges, I picked it up fairly cheaply...but it's got a bit of heavy rust here and there, and it had a dent in the door. Tuesday night, I scrubbed the inside and door. It cleaned up...

    Perlic faucet keeps dripping

When I have enough CO2 pressure on my keg for serving, the Perlic faucet keeps dripping. I cannot get it to quit. It starts off slowly and speeds up to nearly a really slow pour. Is there another faucet you guys would recommend? Something I can do to fix it? It's wasting beer!!

    Is the yeast dead?

I'm brewing an IPA. It has been in the primary fermenter since July 4th. I'm about ready to keg it, but I've never fermented a beer this long before. My question is, is the yeast still alive to utilize the priming sugar for carbonation, or do I have to force carbonate this batch?

Do you refrigerate the keg when naturally carbonating?

Hey guys...I am new to kegging. I forced carb'd my first batch, but I want to naturally carb the second batch. I've found out how to do it, with respect to how much corn sugar to add, how to seal the keg, etc......but I can't find out whether you're supposed to chuck the keg into the kegerator...
