    Mixed-Style Beer Orange Kolsch (AG/EX)

Brewing this one today. Im going to add some Summit in the last hop edition for a little more orange/tangerine aroma. Does a Cascade:Summit ratio of 2:1 sound about right? TIA

    Mixed-Style Beer Orange Kolsch (AG/EX)

Is it this time of year already? 3 years of AG brewing for me so far and this is my favorite beer to make. Im pretty sure it's the neighbors favorite, too, along with the cream of 3 crops. Thanks BM! How cool can I go with the US05? I'm going to use a couple of igloo ice cubes filled with...

    pumpkin recipe

It's time for me to brew a pumpkin beer. I'm looking through my log book for the supplies I need. I brewed both of these last year and both were almost great. All other things being equal, does anyone have any suggestions for the following grain bills? TIA 5 gal. grain bill 1...

toasted grain in Fat Tire clone recipes

Brew day tomorrow! Just toasted 2lbs of 2-row @350 for ~12 minutes. I'll let it sit overnight and run it through the mill with the rest of the grain in the morning. Thanks again for the help.

toasted grain in Fat Tire clone recipes

Fixed it. Sorry, the way I wrote that it was pretty hard to tell what I was asking.

toasted grain in Fat Tire clone recipes

I'm going to try one of the Fat Tire clone type recipes from the old posts on the forum. I've seen a few of them that mention using ~2lbs of 2-row, amber malt, Belgian malt, etc. in the mash. Do you toast the grain and then run it through the mill? Is it toasted whole and then added to the...

thanks, guys. The empty conical above is sold and paid for. It will go to the shipper tomorrow morning. Thank you CT! The other one still has beer in it, but can be shipped as early as this Friday, sans Porter :) I'm located near the Baton Rouge, LA area for those that are asking for a...

Simple eHERMS, following PJ's diagram w/ only 1 PID.

I have a bunch of left over stuff from my build. I know I have a 1/4" NPT water tight 4" k-type thermocouple probe with plug from Auber made to mount to the front of the box. The ends need to be dressed up, but it works. I also have some good red, black, green, & white stranded wire in different...

    7.3 gallon SS conicals

BOTH CONICALS ARE SOLD AND HAVE BEEN PAID FOR. THANKS HBT! I've got (2) of these from the Stouts & Kettles guy. I've put 4-6 batches through each so far with no issues. All of the o-rings & seals are good. 3/4" valves, tri-clamps. Very easy to dump yeast off of. Very cool to look at also, but...

Simple eHERMS, following PJ's diagram w/ only 1 PID.

This very similar to my build. Lots of help from PJ on mine, too. Help from Tiber, the Simple, TwentE2, concepts as well :) I also have two vessels, but I'm using a single heating element and a single pump. My HLT doubles as my BK and I recirculate my mash and recirculating the mash through a...

big yeast cake floating in top of fermenter instead of falling out of suspension

I kegged two 5 gallon batches yesterday and had to deal with something a little out of the ordinary (for me, at least). There was a yeast cake was floating on top of all of the beer in the fermenter when I opened the lid. It actually looked like a sheet of of bread sitting on top of the beer in...

Soldering an RTD to a Panel Mount Conector

I ordered temp sensor and panel connector from Auber and I must have ordered the wrong thing. They sent me a 2 wire probe w/cloth insulation instead of the 3 wire RTD. I'm assuming what I have is a thermocouple instead of the RTD, but as long as it works I don't really care. Either way, I...

    electric equipment start up costs

 $50 is a start, but it really won't go too far. Forget about the cost of any of the equipment. If someone had given me all of my equipment for free it would still cost me ~$25 to make a 5 gallon batch. And, that's just a normal AG beer with pellet hops & dry yeast.

    Electric brewing wattage??? Dryer outlet.

^ This. I'm almost done with my Brutus20/Simple style eBrewery. My original idea was to use my dryer connection, but I decided to have an electrician wire a dedicated 30A GFI to a 240V receptacle in my brewing area in the garage. This work alone is costing me almost as much as all of the...
