How do I get the best out of kits?

I'll give those premium kits a go, they're twice the price but I'm sure they'll be twice as good.

How do I get the best out of kits?

I've been using these style: http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/index.php/beerkits/edme-superbrew-irish-stout-40pt.html They're £10 each 1.5kg (3.3lb) of extract is just over £10 from the same store.

How do I get the best out of kits?

That sounds more reasonable, can you direct me to a quick guide for extract and all grain brewing? Do you have any experience with the premium kits, I stayed away from them because I had visions of them being of similar quality to the £10 kits for twice the price. £20-£30 per 5 gallons would...

How do I get the best out of kits?

Okay, let's say it's £10 for 1.5kg of malt extract, how much malt extracts needed for 23l? Can one of you post a bog standard recipe so I'd know what was what please. Edit: I've just looked at some recipes and they call for 6kg of extract per 5 gallons, that'd cost me £40+ for the extract...

How do I get the best out of kits?

I don't have room for a mash tun.

How do I get the best out of kits?

Just a simple quick question. I usually brew them up to 5 gallons and the end result usually tastes a bit watery, I've only ever reduced the amount of water I've added once before and the result was much better. What I'd like to know though is how to get the best out of kits and what to do to...

    Still (Europe)

Where can I buy a prefabricated still from? The only one I've seen that looks half decent is the easy still: http://www.easystill.com/ But it seems much too expencive for such a small piece of kit. I aren't interested in messing about making my own, I'm not a plumber and I'd like something as...

    Dandelion Wine

What does this taste like? I've never tried dandelion before but I'm willing to try it if it's nice.

    Fruit juice ratio.

Hey everyone! I haven't posted on here for a long time. I'd like a little advice though. I brew on the cheap, I buy tesco value fruit juices @ £0.55/liter ($1.10) and mix them with sugar and water then ferment them, what I'd like to know though, how much water should I add to the fruit juice...

Thanks. I couldnt find a metric sugar to alcohol relation chart on the internet so I made one myself: www.frogwog.com/chart.htm

    Ginger booze kit!

I just added 300 grams of sugar to the fermenter and it went nuts! The airlock was like a mini volcano, is this usual?

    Ginger booze kit!

I'll let you know how it tastes once it's ready, Do you know of a chart or something that will give me the details sugar:alcohol:liquid ratios? I might add some more sugar later on, I'd like to get it up to 5%

    Ginger booze kit!

This is what I used: There was just the yeast and ginger beer concentrate.

    Ginger booze kit!

Yeah that's what I got, I'm just unsure as to whether the sugar added to alcohol ratio is linear. Anyone?

    Ginger booze kit!

The pack said to disolve 1kg of sugar in to 20 litres of water. and it would create a ginger beer that was 3.5% alcohol by volume. This seemed a bit weak to me so I added 1.7kg or sugar. This will be alright, right? The pack says the process will take 6 days to complete, will it take longer...

    Hobo wine.

I've decided to brew beer. I'm gonna start out with a kit or two, and then maybe I'll attempt my own mash. I've just ordered: Cooper's - Ginger Beer - 3.5% Arkells GWR Strong Bitter - ~6% Once these two have been brewed to perfection, can I leave the booze in my brewing vessel and just...

    Hobo wine.

Oh!! I didn't know that. So the more yeast one adds to the mixture, the quicker it will take for the process to complete because it doesn't take as long to reach critical mass. Thanks for that walker, I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to type all that out for me. You've...

    Hobo wine.

Oh yeah, one more thing too: About the people who asked what i used for the previous experiment. I used regular pure fruit juice, and bakers yeast :fro: It turned out really well too, i think i put too much yeast in there though, the yeastyness was definitely noticeable.

    Hobo wine.

Hi I havent posted for a while about this experiment but the booze i brewed was seriosuly kick ass :rockin: :ban: :rockin: I'd estimate it to have been around 15% alcohol by volume and it didnt taste too bad either, me and my friends shared it and got drunk for a couple of evenings...
