    Hurricane Burner Height?

I used the hurricanes for my system as well. I had one on my old system and found that 4" was about right below bottom surface of the boiling vessel. Mounted all 3 on the new system at that height and they work perfectly. When the burner is at full open, the flames just start touching the...

I'm only slightly jealous. Wife and I are planning a 10 day trip to Belgium next year. Can't wait!

    Polysulfone QDs - flow problems?

I'll give it a shot on a couple of "high profile" qd's and see how that works out. I'll probably do it to all of them based on what I heard here. Thanks. Bill

    Polysulfone QDs - flow problems?

I just put together a new system and incorporated the polysulfone qd's. I made the same mistake, if you want to call it that. My burners are the low pressure variety and I bought that same Asco valve with a minimum 5psi. Ended up buying a different valve with no minimum, but a max of 15psi. Works much better. Needed to understand the different pressures in use for...

Scottish ale should be low to moderately carbonated. If its flat, it might get docked. However, with scottish ales, flavor is the key. If its got the flavor of a good scottish ale, it "should" be judged properly. The problem is judges don't always have a good idea of what a style should taste...

How much difference would this make?

First off I'll stand out and say liquid yeasts are superior to dry. However!, that doesn't mean dry yeast sucks. If you want to use liquid yeast, go ahead. Will you know the difference? Maybe, probably not. As long as you have something drinkable, its all good. The best part about brewing at...

So... bad to leave Wyeast packet out?

So the real question is what is room temp? 70 +/-? No problems. The fact your beer isn't going after 48 hours may or may not be a problem. Did you aerate? Most important, especially if you suspect poor yeast health.

    Hello from NH

Found HBT during several searches on the web. Seems every time I have a question, the answer is here. So, I figured I should probably join... Been brewing for a while and am in the middle of building a new rig. Not much for taking pictures, so I have nothing to offer at the moment. Sorry
