    oak powder

    I am making a pinot noir today and the kit came with oak powder. It says to stir it in vigorously. I am stirring but the oak powder is still floating on top. Is this normal? Thanks!

    Oops I forgot to Sanitize...

    Blew my top

    Thanks.....I made up a blow off and things seem to be a little less vilatile! My total volume in the primary was 5 gallons. I should have taken pictures. My wife started cleaning it up after I got the top back on. Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for the info guys. I called Five Star and spoke with a tech at 5 Star (Charles Talley retired 2 years ago). 5 Star said that PBW is not FDA approved as a no rinse solution however it is non toxic, biodegradeable, etc. He said for this reason from a company standpoint he would have to...
