Cheap way to make k type thermocouple into probe/penetration

Out of curiosity, are the larger range probes (0-800) traditionally less sensitive than smaller range probes (0-400)?

Cheap way to make k type thermocouple into probe/penetration

Thanks! The PT100 has the third connection, while my PID only has a positive and negative for the thermocouple. Not sure what Id do with the third if I dont have a third terminal. Sounds like Ill just order a new one off amazon that is a probe style K type. Thanks!

Cheap way to make k type thermocouple into probe/penetration

I bought a pid kit off amazon, and it came with a k type thermocouple with a threaded end. My hope was to be able to find a probe that could screw onto that end, but I can't find anything. Over at thermoworks, they sell lots of k type "penetration" probes (http://tinyurl.com/y95rxhz3), but all...

Should I make a year old White House Honey Porter?

The hops were stored in the freezer, and I skipped ordering the yeast since I was just going to buy liquid yeast locally. The grains, etc, were stored in a closet in our home, ie, mostly ~68 degrees.

Should I make a year old White House Honey Porter?

I ordered the white house porter last october, and then accidentally sat on the kit for a whopping 8 months. Now I am getting back into the brew swing of things, and am wondering if I should brew it. Here are some facts: 1. I ordered it from More Beer, so Im guessing the malt that I got was...

Not to dry, quick turn around cider with pasteurized cider?

My wife loves the trader joes apple cider that comes out in the fall, and I am interested in making a hard cider version for her. The constraints that I come up against are the following: 1. I'd like something that could be kegged within a month 2. I'd like something that has some sweetness, ie...

    bargain fittings... which for rubbermaid

Is this still true? Your website now seems to direct people to get the Round Cooler option, not the standard, since the coolers now come with a slight inset around the hole. Is the only difference between the round cooler and the standard just the extra shim?

    Making Sparkling Water

I didnt end up putting any juice in. I usually put a little bit of juice at the bottom of the glass, pour some water, mix, and then fill it up the rest of the way. Its easier to then simply open the keg when its tapped and pour more water in...

    New Carboy Washer Pressure Issue

For anyone finding this thread, doing the single hole is really the best way to go. One solid stream will ensure that water cascades everywhere, and its time and exposure that is more effective than anything else.

New Better Bottle with scratches in bottom punt

I got a new better bottle from bells, and during my first cleaning, it seemed as if there were some scratches at the top of the bottle's punt, on the inside. I've never used a bottle cleaner on it before, only a carboy washer, which doesnt reach that far. My questions are: 1. Is there some...

Used immersion chiller straight from the box

Yep, it came out fine. There were *zero* grimy or gross tastes to it. Lot of worry over nothing. Let that be a lesson to anyone else who finds this thread after a similar mistake. On head retention, it was an extract brew, and while the head retention wasn't phenomenal, it was on par with...

    New Carboy Washer Pressure Issue

Sounds good. Luckily I bought two caps, so I will redrill this weekend. It sounds as if its more a war of attrition than anything else. I think I may lack confidence after seeing some of the incredibly powerful pumps people have purchased, but then again, the Mark II cleaner videos dont seem all...

    New Carboy Washer Pressure Issue

I completed my carboy washer last night, and was gave it a whirl. I think in my head I was expecting more pressure than I got —*so I wanted people's feedback who have build their own. Here is mine in action: http://d.pr/v/wjUd I realize that some people get pumps that do 1200gph, while...

Carboy Washer Help: PVC Cement Safety

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/pvc-primer-cement-safety-question-231865/ Seems other people have had this thought as well. I guess my only remaining issue is that I rinsed it with water a few hours after gluing it. Hope thats enough time to cure.

Carboy Washer Help: PVC Cement Safety

I am currently in the middle of building my carboy washer, and last night I cemented the pvc parts together. I may have used too much cement, and when I pushed the slip fit part against the t, I ended up with some visible cement being pressed out from between the two pieces. Is this stuff...

    Keg/Carboy Washer

I cannot seem to be able to find the male thread to 1/4 barb nylon pieces anywhere in town. I've found a few them in brass at plumbing shops for 4 dollars a piece, and on amazon for about the same price in plastic, but for a 10 pack. Anyone with leads where I can find the barb fitting to let the...
