First time dry hopping need advice

Just toss them in. Dont worry about it one single bit... I dry hop massively all the time and repitch the yeast sometimes 5 times with no infection noted after years and years of doing so. Rdwhahb. Also screw the secondary its just extra work unless you have to cellar the beer.

Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope...

I commonly make ipas with over half a pound of hops per 5 gallons and dry hop with 3 oz per five gallons. I keep everything in one carboy for the whole ride. Keep it warm to clean up the diacetyl and fusels and dump the pellets straight in and at ten days at most especially if it is warm. If...

    Failed batch number 2

do a starter, it will do leagues for the finished product. aerate by shaking the bucket or get some type of setup. definately try to control the temp of the fermentation some how and kick up the temp at the end of fermentation. also unless it needs to age for months before bottling, screw...

First 5 gallon batch in fermenter!

no secondary unless you have to age it for months. the yeast needs to be on the beer for as long as possible to clean it up

First time brewer with a question

When fermentation slows 5 days to 1 wk raise the temp and let it sit for a week to finish then do a reading to see if it has terminated and bottle or crash cool and keg.. Good luck

    Do I have a problem?

If u r using a bucket those things leak like a sieve, if u have a clear Carboy u can see it moving. I'm with them. Wait ab week and take a gravity reading. You don't really need the water in the airlock Anyhow.

    Microscope Magnification

This is late coming but I dropped like$ 175 on an amscope brand microscope off of bay and am pleasantly surprised with the quality. It Has all the bells and whistles- binocular oil immersion 1000mag mechanical stage control etc. The thing is pretty stout all metal brand new too. I took a leap...

Should i change my wort chiller?

What they said. Space the coils. Most at the top and stir the wort. Mostly stir the wort

    Best way to start off?

Nice one! especially if you dont have the temp control. the beer lends itself to a broader range of ferm temps and the yeast is forgiving! Good luck, enjoy your new obsession.

    Delicious!!!

Hellsyeah guys way to go! Better brew this week or you're gonna run out of beers!

    Best way to start off?

Do a few kit. without really good direction or being really well read and organized you may be setting up to fail. I am not saying that you would; just that starting off making good drinkable beer is the most motivating thing. You are here which is a good start. If u have the stuff to do a full...

    Pre-boil gravity vs SG

If u use some type of software you can predict post boil grav. You need to have a way of knowing evap rate and volumes in your kettle. I usually get the grave where I want it b4 the boil mark the level and then top off with boiled water to the pre boil level. Even if u don't do that the software...

    Condition.... bottles or kegs?

Dude. Fuk bottling. Unless u want to needlessly feel all of our early brewing pains

Did my first infection carry over into my bottles?

All u can do now is wait and see. You run the risk of bottle bombs if u use too much priming sugar. I did once and I had to vent the bottles. What that looks like is the start of a new fermentation. I would open one now and then and see how much pressure is going on. Taste it too infection...
