    The cracks are small enough that they are covered by the rubber washer I am using but I still get a small leak.     Kettle Steeping Hops

    Kettle steeping means adding hops at flameout so not as much volatile hop aroma is lost by boiling. Typically you can steep hops for around 10 mins before cooling. Diluting bad beer with good beer is a great way to make a spoiled batch drinkable.

    The lactose you added is unfermentable so will contribute to a higher FG. The 1.3lb of specialty malts will also add a higher amount of unfermentables so 1.020 sounds okay to me.
