Looking For Honey Sources In Texas

http://www.pollinator.com/Pollination_Beekeepers/polbkprs.htm You can try that link. There's a Texas list in there. It's where I found some cheap honey in my area. I could only find clover and alfalpha honey around where I live, but perhaps you can find some different types of honey in Texas.

    Dry Mead

Will my mead get better the longer it ages, like good wines... or does it reach a peak at a certain time? So if I let my mead age for 1 year, and it tasted great... would it taste even better 3 years from then... or 10, 20, etc? Let's say I bottled my mead into 1 wine bottle and the rest...

    Dry Mead

Hello. I've been brewing beer and cider for about a year now, and decided to try making a mead. I didn't really follow one specific recipe, but just remembered a few ingredients from several recipes I've come across online. What I used was 12lbs of clover honey, filtered water so must was...

    Oktoberfest

Well, thanks 99. I'll keep that in mind and mention it to my traveling compadre. Currently I am waiting for a reservation confirmation from the NH Munchen Deutscher Kaiser... the Eden Hotel Wolf is our second choice. Both hotels are a little over 1K from the park. (stumbling distance :p)...

Is there a commerical mead company?

yick!! I know what you mean now Janx! I broke down and purchased that $14 bottle of mead at the store the other day. It was so sweet I had to choke it down, thankfully one of my drinking buddies was there and choked down the other half(literally... we were laughing at each others facial...

    Cheatin cider...

Oh, btw. That cheatin cider never did carbonate. It's ok... I forgot to post about it for a while because I've been getting drunk off it till it ran out a few days ago. One of my friends liked it too. I was telling him about the different types of yeasts, and said that a champaign yeast...

Got my first good look at all-grain today....

oh yeah. That'd be great. edit: As long as you explain everything as you go. Even the simple things, 'cause I'm one of those people who tend to miss the obvious things. I can pay-pal you some cash for it whenever you get it done!

Is there a commerical mead company?

A liquor store here in town sells bottles of english mead for $14 for a 12oz bottle. I've always wanted to try it, but I don't feel like spending that much money on something I might not like.

    Growing coffee

I drink coffee. I wouldn't call myself and advid drinker of the stuff, but I have my coffee pot on a timer and a batch is waiting for me every morning (assuming I remembered to clean it and put fresh grounds in). It sounds interesting, but i don't think I have the climate for it. I...

    Yeast preference poll

I've alway's used dry yeast. Except for my first batch I ever brewed, which I didn't hydrate the yeast before pitching, all the brews start fermenting in about 12 hours.

    Alcohol Testing Device

Hello. I've searched for a while, but is there any sort of device out there that can determine the alcohol content of a beverage? I'm sure it's possible to create such a device cheaply, due to all the breathalizers out there... I'm assuming it'd use the same technology. If anyone knows of...

    chocolate in beer

I know you probably won't put sweetened chocolate in your wort, but I got a laugh thinking of it. Imagine someones facial expression who, cracks open a beer, and the first sip is a big gulp of oily fat. LOL, that'd be kinda nasty.

Hop pellets - Why did I do it???

erm... I didn't know that. All my hops are sitting in a cabinent in my kitchen, unrefridgerated. The hops give off a lot of odor, which doesn't smell bad but I don't want it seeping into my food, nevertheless. Would it be alright to stick them all in the freezer instead? edit: They are...
