Alright thanks ill keep an eye on that airlock! Does underpitching increase risk of infection? I'm thinking if Tue yeast is not taking over bacteria could just run wild? But still billions of yeast to hopefully few bacteria so maybe not?

alright I need some help. I Brewed Biermunchers Oktoberfast Saturday. Did a PM version and hit 1.055. I messed up and only ordered one packet of safale04 and figured it'd be fine. Pitched at 75 or so into almost 12 gallons(I know should have gone to lhbs and gotten another packet). Sunday and...

35 Gallon Fermenter on Seattle Craiglist

Yes for now just fermenters... Just have to figure out how I want to set them up and temperature control them. It's cool they can handle pressure so I could rack with CO2, I just wonder if I need to or if the little dish on the bottom is deep enough that I could blow the cake off after primary...

    Summit sub

Thanks guys... Ended up using citra. First AG batch went alright as well. Only 70% efficiency but should get better. Bubbling away in primary and it smells delicious! Thanks for the recipe.

    Summit sub

Brew day tomorrow... Going to try a 10gal batch of: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f69/amarillo-summit-ipa-122707/ I have a pound of citra; wondering what everyones thoughts are on that being used in place of Summit. I know it is slightly less on the alpha so I'd have to increase the oz...

    Idea for Sparging

Could always make a metal frame out of SS wire and line it with SS screen... Maybe we'll build one if we can find the material and when we get our rig going compare this to batch sparging.

    Idea for Sparging

I didn't say it was new, just not sure if anyone does this. I'm talking about on an all grain scale though, not partial mash like I did. For partial mash this worked well and I'll probably use it for future batches. But for all grain like kanzimonson said I wonder if this would work with 10+lbs...

    Idea for Sparging

I was brewing BierMuncher's Bluemoon clone (partial mash) last night when I had an idea for sparging that may or may not exist/be good. We were using socks for the wheat and we mashed in one pan @ 155F, at the end of the 70 minutes we took socks out and dropped them in another pan with one...

    Electric Rig Build

Bobby, using the wrap to up the temp and stiring the mash would not work for step mashing? One question I had for anyone that can answer it, while we are still running the rig manually and not off of a controller do I need relays or anything for the elements or can I simply buy A/C elements...

    Electric Rig Build

For the HLT I plan on draining off the bottom no need to leave any behind. So we can just punch a hole and have the element run through a bulkhead. For the BK we plan on whirlpooling; so I figure its best to have the drain on a bulkhead off the side so we leave the trub. Both kegs were...

Something similar to this: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/4GY19?Pid=search or http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/3CDA6?Pid=search Then we plan on insulating over top of the element
