Gas line hole location in a Magic Chef 10.1 cu. Ft. Refrigerator

Before posting here I had asked the same question in another thread under keezers/kegerators discussion. Please see the thread below for my final solution. Thanks everyone for your input. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/question-about-drilling-hole-for-gas-line.728443/post-10289189

Question about drilling hole for gas line

Finally, I got the gas line going through the hump. First I tried drilling through the inside and went too close to the compressor wire so went through the sheet metal in the back and through the hump. I will figure out a way to plug the first hole so that there are no leaks (for now used some...

Question about drilling hole for gas line

I tried drilling through the hump and all I felt was insulation. Unfortunately I need a longer drill bit to make a hole all the way to the back. Ordered the extra long bits and getting them tomorrow. Meanwhile, installed the two intertap faucets through the door and it was a breeze and snug fit...

Thank you @bolepa. I saw those instructions in another post and the OP was still not sure where to drill the hole. Let me give this a try. Thank you

Question about drilling hole for gas line

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Here are two pictures of the back. I am thinking the hump is probably a safe place. I also borrowed my friend’s endoscope camera. If needed I will use it to check for any refrigerant lines but I think i won’t need it.

Gas line hole location in a Magic Chef 10.1 cu. Ft. Refrigerator

Yes, there’s a freezer on top. When you say below the freezer, you mean below but on the back? Thank you for the research.

Gas line hole location in a Magic Chef 10.1 cu. Ft. Refrigerator

That was my original question. Where in this model refrigerator is it safe to drill the hole? Was hoping someone would have pictures of their setup. What’s weird is, the sides get warm sometimes but yesterday moved the fridge so that there is enough space around it and the sides were cool to touch.

Sorry, reread your reply. I cannot put the tank on the hump.

Gas line hole location in a Magic Chef 10.1 cu. Ft. Refrigerator

It fits but I have two corny kegs I want to put there. With 2 kegs I cannot put the tank inside. I have a 20lb tank. Thank you

Gas line hole location in a Magic Chef 10.1 cu. Ft. Refrigerator

I posted this in the kegerator/keezer forum but no one responded. Hope someone can share some info. I have a Magic Chef refrigerator (Model HMDR1000BE) that I am converting into a kegerator. I read in a couple of threads here that I have to drill the hole in the hump at the bottom for the CO2...

Question about drilling hole for gas line

I have a Magic Chef refrigerator (Model HMDR1000BE) that I am converting into a kegerator. I read in a couple of threads here that I have to drill the hole in the hump at the bottom for the CO2 line. The user manual says to leave 5” on the back and sides which means I cannot drill a hole in the...

    Checklist for kegerator setup

If the thread reducer didn’t get stuck, I could have used the flare adapter I purchased. I don’t want to damage the parts by trying to separate the barb from the reducer. I’ll try applying some heat but they are “glued” together pretty tight.

    Checklist for kegerator setup

Are you suggesting I use a larger ID hose to go from the regulator barb to this splice and connect the EVA to the 1/4” end? Wouldn’t that introduce more areas for potential leaks?

    Checklist for kegerator setup

I tried removing the barbs. They have some type of thread locker on them. One came off easily, the other also came off but has a thread reducer on it (the second one stayed put). It looks like a 3/8” to 1/4” reducer with threads on top and inside. There was no way for me to separate it from the...

    Checklist for kegerator setup

I see the threads where the y connector and the barbs are connected. I think I can replace the barbs. Has anyone tried it? Are they left or right hand threaded?

    Checklist for kegerator setup

Looks like I can easily fit two 5gal kegs. Maybe couple small ones in the back in future.

    Checklist for kegerator setup

Finally pushed the button (or buttons). Bought all the parts from BrewHardware, ordered the MrBrew SS handles on Amazon and.......Belgian Tripel and La Petite Orange from Northern Brewer. My wife's not going to be happy :) Wish me luck with my first time kegging!!

    Checklist for kegerator setup

That was my guess, but thanks for suggesting that. I will get the check valves. I was somewhat overwhelmed before I started this thread. I can't thank you guys enough for all the insights. I think I am very confident I can go ahead to start putting things together for my build. One final...

    Checklist for kegerator setup

I only measured the height and diameter of the kegs and the inside of the fridge to make sure they fit. I just tried without removing the trays and I am pretty sure I can fit the kegs. I have 20lb tank which won’t fit. So I have to leave it out with two holes on the side of the fridge for the...
