A viable way to force carbonate?

maybe its just me, but I'd die before I showed up at a party with a 2l soda bottle full of beer. reminds me of the scene in superbad where the guys fill up laundry soap jugs full of coors. that said, get a carbonation-cap, one of the 12g co2 pellet dispensers, and shake till your hearts delight.

    Kegging vs. bottling?

not sure what you mean by "full taste of homebrew", but if anything kegging will improve your beer, or at least make it clearer. Instead of getting sediment in every bottle you'll get a couple of cloudly pours and then its clear sailing. I do secondaries, so I get almost none. there's...

    Kegging In Time For Thanksgiving

I prefer more than a week if carbing at serving pressure, but it will definitely be mostly done. I personally do a day or two at 30psi and then down to 12psi serving pressure and its ready after 3-4 days. I did a batch this way just last sunday, so hopefully by the end of the week it will be...

    storage pressure vs serving pressure

they will technically start to lose carbonation like that. best way is to reduce your flowrate enough that you can serve at carbonating pressure. I deal with the same thing, as I serve from cobra taps at carbing pressure. it can be a little foamy sometimes, but I plan to add some of those...

    Blueberry Wheat Help

I'm sure fresh fruit is a better option, but fwiw, I've had *fantastic* results with fruit extracts from NB. I made their raspberry wheat a while back and it was great.

Attention All Extract Brewers - Harsh Bitterness and Aftertaste

I've recently had a couple of batches with the medicinal flavors, but I've also had a ton of other batches that turned out great, all using tap water. It will be interesting to see the results.

Help with getting Fermentation Temps lower

the water and fan is about all most of us do... though you can look up "son of a fermentation chiller" if you want to get really fancy :)

    KegConnection.com

figured I'd ask in here: how in the hell do you take apart a kegconnection manifold!? I've got a 3-way with a plug in the third hole, and I'd like to add another check vale/nipple so I can have a dedicated line with an air chuck to carb soda bottles (and pump up my bike tires! :) )...

    Dogfish Head - Rare Brews?

    well, there's only 7 continents :P

    whirlflock in secondary ?

well it certainly wouldn't hurt, but i'd use gelatin or something else just to be sure.

    mini kegging?!

the guy at my lhbs had a similar setup, but he said he screwed carbonator caps onto them [the part where the c02 bulb goes in, I didn't get a good look at it], and hooked that up to his co2 tank to carb.

    Foam in the secondary

smell can be a big indicator to infection. does it smell like beer? does it taste like beer? I'd go ahead and take the gravity reading.

    Beer on Tap!

awesome freezer :) looks like you could fit another keg in there, or at least another mini keg or two on the hump :)

    Alabama Celebration Brew

I kegged an extra pale ale a couple days ago, does that count? :) This may be the hoppiest beer I've had in awhile, second only to auburn ale house's hop dragon, which tastes like you put a fistful of hops into a blender with some 'normal' IPA. war eagle!

Basement temp is 66 F. How long should Mr Beer stay in the brewing keg?

consider yourself lucky that you've got a basement at that temperature! some of us have to use buckets of water/ice to cool fermentation... just remember that 2 weeks is a pretty 'young' beer. should be interesting to see it improve after that.

Why would some of my beers be "fizzy"?

that doesn't sound right, even if they're way overcarbed they shouldn't gush like that *unless* they're shaken up. make sure they sit a couple days in the fridge also to dissolve all that c02. however, inconsistent carbonation is another issue entirely... I used to have inconsistent priming...

Still have lots of flaky stuff in sceondary

it will definitely be fine. another couple of weeks before bottling will do it. I'm a stickler for "clear" beer, and its always somewhat unsettling when I open up the primary and see primordial ooze with crap floating in it even after a couple weeks.

How to bring a keg camping without FOAM!!!

I drink my beer minutes after force carbing and never have any problems. I bet its a combination of over carbing and short line length. for example, with 5 feet 3/16 on a cobra tap, I can pour fine all the way up to about 13 psig, if I carb any higher than that its just a foamy mess. I...

    20 oz or 5 lb co2 tank???

well a 20oz tank is a little more than 1/5 of a 5lb tank. most people say 6-8 batches off a 5lb tank, so if impetus is getting 1.5 batches, then that seems right. sure can't be beat for convenience since you can buy tanks at academy and whatnot. I have to drive out of town to hit the gas...

new to kegging, just want to see if I have this right.

Don't forgot you can shake the crap out of it at serving pressure to avoid any chance of overcarbing. make sure its cold first, but it shouldn't take longer than 10-15 mins of shaking. (roll it on your lap). I got impatient last night and shook it for awhile at 30 psi, then bled down to 10...
