    Steeping Question

Due to problems with my thermometer, I thought I was steeping my specialty grains at 155 degrees. However, after it was all said and done with, I realized that I had problems with my thermometer and in all reality it was probably steeping more along the lines of low 200's. Do you think that I...

    Newb alert!!!!

Welcome to the obsession buddy. My advice is to use How to Brew and youtube to familiarize yourself with the whole process. WindRiver has a starter kit that is super cheap. I'd recommend going with that kit. You won't find one for a better price. It even comes with your choice of a recipe...

Has anyone brewed up a batch of Dos Equis from AHS? How is it? Was it close to or similar to the real deal?

    AHS/MW Fat Tire Clone

I haven't made the AHS clone, YET, but I have heard nothing but great things about it. It's actually their 2nd highest selling recipe kit. I know I'm gonna give it a shot ASAP.

    Over-Aerating?

I heard somewhere that it is possible to aerate TOO much. Is this true. I use and aquarium air pump that is rated for 40 gallons on my 5 gallon batches. How long should I run the pump? I have been aerating for about 5 minutes or so.

    Mini Mash Question

I am interested in getting one of the mini mash recipe kits from AHS. Is it true that the only thing extra that I will need is a grain bag? Will I not need a mash tun?

    First Batch is Underway

I worked all day yesterday on my first batch. It's a Pale Ale that I got with a starter kit I purchased from WindRiver. This kit is a great deal! The batch has been in the primary now for 20 hours; I'm getting a bubble in the airlock every minute. Is that a decent rate for this stage? I...

    Auto Siphon

I am going to purchase an auto siphon from AHS. I do not currently have a racking cane? Do I need to purchase a racking cane as well?

    Secondary Fermenter

I am looking at the recipe kits from Austin Homebrew Supply. I do not have a secondary fermenter. On their website it says under their basic beer kit: "This 1-stage fermentation equipment kit works with canned beer kits only. By adding the optional 5 gallon glass carboy or plastic better...

    Question from first-timer

I am planning on purchasing a recipe kit from Austin Homebrew Supply here in the next couple of days. I am just getting started in homebrewing. At AHS I know that you can purchase the extract kits and mini mash kits. First of all, is mini mash the same as partial mash? Second, is a mini mash...
