You normally should cut back the first growth. Since you are moving and transplanting I would leave it. Small roots are developing in the soil and will reduce transplant shock Cheers Glen

Any good potting soil will work to the sandy side is better good drainage a must M grow is fine but put a spoon of borax in yearly (boron)

I have over 8 acres of hops on my farm and manage another 20 I have been selling Rhizomes for the past 6 years on this site. Unless you are getting meristem disease free plants there is really no reason to get a rooted tip cutting. There are only 2 places in the country that are doing this...

You could use that rhizome to start a new plant. The purple nodes have actually been there since late fall
