    Stuck fermentation

A friend and I brewed a double batch of Ed Wort's Haus Pale using Nottingham yeast and it seems we have come across a stalled fermentation. After 3 days I did a gravity reading and measured at 1.020 (OG 1.051). Today, 3 days after the first reading, the hydrometer is still reading 1.020 after...

American Pale Ale Kona, Fire Rock Pale Ale (AG Clone)

not sure if anyone has mentioned this but beersmith is estimating an OG of 1.110 and an ABV of over 11. with a 21.5 lb grain bill, this seems like it could be a big beer, almost a barleywine. any insight?

What BeerSmith mash setting do you use?

I do a simple two step mash-sparge. What mash setting should I have the software on for this procedure? Many thanks in advance...

    Dry mead OG/FG?

Well, made a mistake and didn't take an OG on my first batch of mead. Total brain fart. Anyway, what is the average OG for a normal dry mead? After a month in primary the SG now is 1016. Do I still have a ways to go? I've read that you want a dry closer to 1000. Any help is...

    Clarifying agent question

I hear you. It does have some solid fermentation still going after 3 weeks in primary. I read that you should keep in in primary until it reaches a 1.000 FG then rack it to bottles to age 6 mos.

    Clarifying agent question

4 weeks. The directions in the kit said 3-4 weeks. Kind of a newbie when it comes to mead.

    Clarifying agent question

I have about one week left in primary with my dry mead and I'm wondering if anyone uses a clarifying agent prior to bottling. If so, what is it that you use. Does it just naturally clarify during bottle aging?

    Kegging root beer

I have had a 4 gallon batch of root beer in the corny for about a week at 36 psi. I still have minimal carbonation, almost none. My novice self only cut 5 1/2 feet of beverage line. I heard that I should have much more line for that psi. Is this true? What is the formula?

    Found the leak!!!! Suggestion included...

Found the dreaded gas leak that drained a full 15lb bottle in 2 days. It happened to be a loose barb on the gas quick connect. I used a small paintbrush and my son's bottle of bubble blowing soap. It was the perfect ratio and I found the small leak within 5 minutes. I think you can...

Gas leak in the kegerator...need diagnosis advice

Hey guys and gals, just had a 15 lb bottle filled last week. Everything was fine with bottle pressure until about 3 days ago when I seen that all of a sudden my bottle pressure gauge was in the red. Next day, completely empty. Recently, the same thing happened to a 5 lb'er I had so I changed...

    Possibly a dumb question...

    Thought so. Thanks!

    Possibly a dumb question...

...but I'll ask anyway. I just brewed an Irish Red using Wyyeast American Ale II Activator. Usually during primary I'll take a light whiff of what's coming out of the airlock just to smell for unsavory scents. Anyway, I have some vigorous fermentation going and when I went to take a whiff...

Airlocks: Classic 3-piece or "triple ripple" style?

I've used the old-school 3 piece airlocks but was curious about the triple ripple style (as it's called on morebeer.com). Has anyone had experience with these? Any advantages / disadvantages?

    Guten tag from Mississippi

Hey there, my name's Marc and I reside along the Mississippi gulf coast. Been brewing with my buddy here and we have recently been called up to the major leagues (aka all-grain) where we're having a blast. I'm looking forward to learning a lot here and sharing ideas. Cheers! :mug: Marc
