    Mash Paddle Giveaway

    Woo hoo! I'm in!

    What did i do wrong?

That wasn't a heck of a long time to steep them. That MIGHT be the culprit. Plus your grains are sitting in an ideal temperature for an even shorter time. My $0.02 would be to go ahead and heat your water to 165 or so, pop your cold grains in and let it steep (or some process like that)...

    Boil off volume ???

That's the only thing I can think of, unless relative humidity will effect it. But it's been a decade since I took chemistry, so...

    steeping question

Don't worry about it. The amount is small and there's not a brilliant way to prevent this. If you're using the muslin bag, you can get a nylon bag with finer mesh at the homebrew store. I prefer those and they're reusable.

    bayou classic burnt paint

I don't really know how hot it gets, so I'm not sure how high a temp paint you need. For me, I don't see a need to repaint it.

    Mess making

This sounds like a terribly fun experiment. From my perspective, I was taught to brew, so wouldn't try a lot of the stuff you are. Be sure to post anything that works please! Sour beers you tried were probably lambics?

    Boil off volume ???

How different are the beers you're brewing, in terms of gravity and such? Just thinking out loud (or in type), and maybe it's the dissolved stuff affecting things?

    Starter Contamination?

You're probably fine. The starter is fairly alcoholic by now which helps.

    bayou classic burnt paint

Yeah, same with ours. Once it burns off it's no problem. The bayou burner pretty much is a turkey fryer. Depends on what you have...

    Exploding Fermenter

The one advantage to transferring to the carboy is you can use a giant tube for blowoff. We put high OG beers in carboys for primary for this reason. Harder to clean, but you don't blow your lid off.

What are the chances that my beer will be ruined?

Relax. Don't Worry. Have a homebrew. You'll be fine. Just say your beer was made with blood, sweat, and tears.

    Harvesting Kombucha Yeast

Anyone tried making a Kombucha/beer hybrid? I'd like to give it a shot.

Awesome! That's really good to know, thanks.

Son helps old man with label

+1 to GIMP. Nice work on the label! Clean, simple, good.

A big thank you to all the craft brewers that put their product in cans.

Good thinking! That would have been useful in college. I'm sure I can find a use again.... :cross:

What do you do with your weekend?

Dude, I had to find the camera, then I had to get out the camera, then I had to find the memory card. These things don't come easy you know... :drunk: Good work, Part Time. I call that "making bottles."

What do you do with your weekend?

Well it's obvious what I did with my weekend (and I don't want to hear about how kegging is easier; my kegs are full). What did you do?

    Myweekend

    A weekend of bottling like it's 1999.

    Unclear beer- old maritime recipe

I'm not a big fan of filtering for polishing, but you could run it through a 30 micron filter as described https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f13/filtering-beer-139135/. That would take out some of the suspended particles while leaving your yeasts alone.
