Iowa 10 Gal Stainless Electric Kettle

Not really sure, I don’t use it much. Open forum is fine with me. Yes it’s still available.

Iowa 10 Gal Stainless Electric Kettle

Was getting into Electric brewing when I changed jobs and just didn't have the time for all grain. This has been sitting for awhile, but is still in good shape. Include PWM dial controller with SSR and heatsink. I used it on a small wire stand with the controller attached to the top post of...

WTB: Ball lock kegs in or around MN

I've got six of them, pretty good shape - Consider a drive to Des Moines?

    Completed Kegerator - Almost

I haven't had nearly as much time to spend on home brewing lately, so I have started to part with some of my stuff. The keezer still runs great, but unfortunately spends most of it's time chilling kegs full of starsan rather than beer. Anyone in the midwest interested let me know. Located in...

    Completed Kegerator - Almost

Sorry to anyone that has had questions on this, but I have been away from the forums for awhile. I know that a few had questions about how the temperature is holding up on my keeper - I am happy to report that after four years of constant service, I have yet to experience any problems with the...

    Are all potentiometers equal?

The Bakatronics Pot is a 500k Linear type. My original one was broken also - problem I had was finding one that soldered into the board. Might check with Bakaronics to see if you can order one direct from them.

    PWM Problem

Thanks for the assistance, but since the board has pretty well been destroyed by my diagnostic process, I will be ordering a new one from Bakatronics. Never did figure out what the problem was, but I will for sure be testing the new one prior to changing out the cap.

    PWM Problem

Yes I have - SSR is fine. I've manually checked it, and I've checked the output of the PWM with a multimeter, with no success. The only thing I can think of is a bad component - this thing is pretty much a no-brainer, especially when you get it pre assembled. I picked up a new 555, I'm...

    PWM Problem

I've checked all of the threads that I can find, but can't find my solution. Time to ask for help from the group. I bought a Bakatronics FK804 pre built to control my BK, switched out C1 to a 2.2uF cap, hooked up to my SSR to verify that all is well before buttoning it up, and the SSR light...

    Black IPA recipe help

Looks fine to me - I personally use black patent malt in my BIPA - I put it in during the last 15 minutes of the mash - helps to get the color without a lot of the roasted flavor. But if your after that flavor - go for it. Cheers!

Can't quite grasp making starter yeast....

Keep changing your water bottles as they melt for a few days, then trust the yeast to do their job. The beer will come out awesome. Congrats on your first batch!

Arrrrggggg! I need some keezer help

Use canned spray foam - Play with this stuff in an old bucket first - it can get pretty out of hand. Turn the top upside down and fill it with foam. After the foam dries, cut it flush with a long saw. Then reinstall the inside cover, or replace it with plywood or leave it unfinished.

So, I put my whole arm in the wort...

As long as you don't call your dog "the grommet" You should be just fine - fermentation will likely fend off any minor buggies you put in with your arm. If you do call your dog "the grommet" smack with a paper and tell him to stop pooping in your beer! Cheers!

    Total Newbie Questions

Sorry, I seem to have one pint to many to be able to put in a link, but it's definitely worth the price of admission. Wow - guess I wasn't - time for another pint

    Total Newbie Questions

I'm a big fan of podcasts too - spend some time checking those out. You'll find that most brewers out there, including many on this site, will tell you that the secondary just isn't necessary - leave the beer in the primary for 7-10 days (maybe longer, depending on the beer) then rack to...

    Total Newbie Questions

Welcome to the hobby. I would absolutely begin with extract brewing. Once you have several extract brews under your belt and have perfected your process of sanitizing and fermenting, you can switch to all grain. Some brewers do extract forever and make fantastic beer. The videos that you...

My first ever fermentation blow out

My suggestion, after surviving shrapnel from a few blow off's - Build the son of fermentation chiller. It's really cheap, the fermentation temp control makes better beer, and it contains the blow off's very nicely. With that said, some of the very best beer that I have made, including a...

    Keezer…with tower taps?

I built mine similar to the 'Keezer' Project mainly because I was concerned with having to pull the keezer away from the wall far enough to clear the wall when I lift the lid. Spent tons of time building a box that is mounted on hinges so that I can hinge it down, then lift the lid. My keezer...

    Bottles have too much sediment

Thanks - I'll put it in as is - it's only $3.50 per entry, so this will be a great first competition experience.
