    Brewery names--what's your story?

Thanks for the props; I actually live in Collierville (Wellington Farms), but work for Shelby County Fire.

    Brewery names--what's your story?

I'm a Lt. on E-63 (over 20 years in the fire service); can't really come up with anything that I really like. Thought about Dirty Hose Brewing Co.; kind of like CUF (cool under fire) brewery. Any ideas?

"Unsticking" a Stuck fermentation using Beano

The Roggen I used this in turned out a little thin for home brew, but was a really good session beer. My friends/neighbors really like it.

    PLEASE HELP! Newbie questions...

I've only done 1 cider using champagne yeast; it took a very long time and came out very dry/tart. I had to keg it and after adding 2 cans of frozen apple juice concentrate it is actually pretty good -- something like a woodchuck cider.

Who Has Experience With Wyeast 1388 - Belgian Strong Ale?

I Brewed a Strong Golden with this yeast about 4 months ago; when I tasted it 2 months ago -- strong bananas. It's been carbed sitting in a keg in my garage the last 2 months; hoping it has cleaned up. Recipe called for 6 months total.

"Unsticking" a Stuck fermentation using Beano

I just checked the SG. To my surprise it was 1.012 -- exactly what I was shooting for and the sample tasted good. It's cloudy and could stand to age, but I'm afraid that the yeast could continue to ferment and dry the beer out. So I've decided to chill it in an effort to suspend fermentation...

"Unsticking" a Stuck fermentation using Beano

I dropped 2 tablets of beano 6 days ago; so I'm sure the damage is done. Any chance I could salvage this batch by heating to 135 and back sweeten with a small amount of DME disolved in boiled water; or maybe steep some specialty grainss to regain some body to the beer? If so which approach...

"Unsticking" a Stuck fermentation using Beano

I had a Roggenbier stick at 1.020 my LHBS said drop in some Beano. I did and there is a 1/4" layer of new dense foam on top now. Will be interesting to see how it turns out. Has anyone ever heard of or done this? If so what were the results?

    Cloudy Beer

I brewed a NB Strong Goldern Belgian 3 months ago -- gave it 1 month in the primary, a month in secondary and an additional month to clear in a carboy. When I kegged it a bout a week ago the sample was pretty bright & clear. Now that its chilled and carbed the samples are cloudy. Should I...

    Is this a good deal?

Not stainless; 10-12 gallon batches; standard 3 tier; also includes 6 cornies, 2-3 carboys, fridge & chest freezer with ranco, etc. Said he paid 2300 plus shipping on sculpture a couple of years ago, but goes for 2700 now.

    Is this a good deal?

Found a guy selling a Morebeer AG set up for $2,000. It is the tiered set up and says it comes with the SMART system. Pictures look like new condition. What does used equipment like this go for?

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Made a batch Friday. Didn't have corn sugar so I used 2 cups of honey, 2 cups of brown sugar and red star champange yeast. It's got a healthy case of rhino farts rolling along so I guess its working!

    Growing in Tennessee?

I'm in the Memphis area; planted 2 cascades & 2 Mt. Hoods several weeks ago. I've got 1 cascade about a foot tall, 1 cascade a couple inches, 1 Mt. Hood just broke ground and no signs of life from the other Mt. Hood.

    Idea for Ghetto lagerator

I've been thinking about rigging a ghetto lagerator by setting up a water bath in a cooler using a small pump on a thermostat to pump water through vinyl tubing into my kegerator where I could either attach it to a copper chiller or just coil the vinyl tubing; then have it return to the water...

    Better than Apfelwein...

I've been thinking of doing something along these lines, maybe even add a dash of hops to counter sweetness. sounds like it might have a little more beer body. I had read somewhere a while back that mixing the beer elements with apple juice would set any pectins and make it thick and cloudy --...

    Which way is up?

I planted my first ones a few weeks ago; 2 cascade & 2 Mt. Hood. I planted 1 of each verticle and 1 of each horizontal. The verticle cascade had the biggest buds and naturally broke ground first; the second cascade barely had any visible buds -- I planted it horizontally and it just popped...

    This Is Ridiculous (Rant)

I have mixed feelings about my LHBS, the guy is very laid back, helpful and friendly, but a couple of weeks ago printed a couple of NB recipes for my first AG's and bought the ingredients at LHBS. I had to substitute a couple ingredients and paid almost twice what it would have cost me at NB...

SMaSH Advice MO & Argentinian Cascade

I just kegged the following recipe (I know it's an extract in the all grain section) that I threw together using some extra extract I had lying around that included Argintina Cascade. After 3 1/2 weeks in primary it's surprisingly good -- a coppery, very light Sierra Nevada tasting ale with a...
