    Going Downhill

I have been brewing for awhile now. I'm on batch #47 and things are starting to get worse. I just got my all grain system up and running and have made one beer with it. The rest have all been extract with specialty grains and most have been kits. My first 30+ batches were excellent (minus a few...

    Exploding bottles

I brewed an Irish Stout. My OG was 1.050 and my FG was 1.014. I used 5oz priming sugar mixed into my bottling bucket. I came up with 50 12oz bottles. My bottles are stored in the basement at 70 degrees. When I bring them up and they warm up a bit they explode. Also, if I move them straight to...

    So Very Confused

Hey again, So I have taken the step and bought a keg setup and have it mounted in my refrigerator. That was the easy part. I have been reading on here for awhile about kegging and I get more confused each day. I have 2 beers ready to be kegged, an Irish Stout and an American Amber. The fridge...

    60L vs 80L

Quick question. What is the difference between 60L and 80L Crystal Malt. I have two different recipes for the same beer. One calls for 8oz of 60L while the other calls for 1# of 80L. I have 40L Crystal. Can I make this beer and how much Grain should I use?

    Brew Kettle

I'm thinking about making a brew kettle out of an old keg, like the ones on here. I was wondering where everyone gets them and about how much they cost. Are these just rented kegs that you forfeit the deposit on? Thanks for any help.

    Chili Beer

I'm wanting to try making a chili beer. My plans are to use an American Amber kit and add sereno chilis. My question is.. should I use fresh chilis or dried? And when should I add them, During the boil or into the fermenter like dry hopping? Also if this is a horrible idea please let me know as...

    Corona Bottles

Quick question... Has anyone ever tried to reuse Corona bottles. The boy and I have brewed a batch of rootbeer for him and was going to bottle them in Corona bottles. I can't seem to get the caps to go on right. They are all crooked and leak. I'd rather not use my good bottles for rootbeer...

    please help!!!

Hello again, I have just had two more batches of beer go bad. I assumed the first two were due to something unsannitary, probably the bottles. I am very meticulus on my cleansing practices but this was the only thing I could figure. 3 of us guys have brewed a little over 40 batches of beer, all...

    jars?

Hello again. I had a friend ask if it would be possible to bottle beer in a mason jar. I told him I wasn't sure if it would hold the pressure. He seems to think that wouldn't be a problem. I figured I would ask you guys to see if you have any insight into this. He wants to have larger containers...

    Double Wheat Bock F.G. ??

I just got done bottling a Double Wheat Bock. It was an extract kit. I am wondering if anyone knows what the F.G. should be. I took the advice from everyone on here and let this one sit in the primary for 3 weeks. There was no activity or drop in gravity for the last two weeks. My fermenting...

    low O.G.

I have another question. I have noticed that my last three brews have all had a low O.G. I'm using beer kits and the i'm not at the "suggested" starting gravity. I'm wondering if this will matter and if so how do I fix it on future brews. My brews are a double wheat bock that should have a...

    What's wrong??

This is the second day of fermentation and I'm having problems. This batch is a Russian Imperial Stout. Two days after putting into glass carboy fermenter it's foaming all over. Air lock is in place with water but keeps filling with foam and beer. I've never had this problem before so if anyone...
