    condensation in chest freezer

So I've converted a 20 cu ft chest freezer into a fermentation chamber but I keep getting moisture condensing on the sides and bottom of the thing. Anyone have any easy home remedies for the problem other than a crap load of rice?

    Max time for diacetyl rest?

Do any of you know if there is max amount of time that you should raise the temp on a lager for a diacetyl rest? I was thinking of letting an ale go through primary while my lager was going through a rest since the temps would be pretty much ideal for both but I'm not sure if the one to two...

    God I love Craigslist!!!

I must bow to a new level of brewing obsession. I think you are the first person I've actually talked to that got his keezer started before brewing his first batch of beer. Absolutely awesome :rockin::rockin::rockin::rockin: Here's to a long and healthy obsession with the best hobby in the...

    God I love Craigslist!!!

When using a freezer as a kegerator or fermentation chamber you have to get a temp controller like a Ranco/Johnson or your can build your own from a controller like a Love TS series temp controller. The love route is how I've gone with my Kegerator build and with this fermentation chamber. The...

    God I love Craigslist!!!

You're not kidding about the heat... with this sucker though my hope is I'll have enough room to brew at proper temps year round. I've already got college football as an obsession I can only do four months out of the year, I'm not sure if I can handle having another with that restriction.

    God I love Craigslist!!!

Wow...are you doing a collar and taps on the 24cu ft? that is going to be a monster if so! Now a few corneys and a sanke or two...that might be bad ass.

    God I love Craigslist!!!

If I get to the point where I need to keep 12 kegs in cold storage then I am A) making too much beer or B) not drinking enough. Hopefully 8 filled at a time should be enough (4 active in keezer and 4 in this one). Maybe add a couple others if I do some lagering in the kegs.

    Frozen beer

Haven't done an independent test yet but as soon as I get the gel set up I'll test that (figure there's no use trying it with just the ambient air temp in the freezer)

    Frozen beer

Lowest ABV, all four are touching the sides but this one was on the rear left (opposite side from the compressor). Sensor has been hanging in the space where all four kegs meet about half way down the keg right now it's open air but will likely be breaking open an ice pack, adding the jell to...

    Frozen beer

Unfortunately I'm the only one living at my house so the water addition theory wouldn't work.

    Frozen beer

So got home last night and decided I'd go pour myself a glass of my peach american wheat. Well when I got downstairs to the keezer only a couple of drops came out. I was a bit disappointed but figured it was floated during my last pool party so poured a glass of ESB. Well I didn't think much...

    God I love Craigslist!!!

Found a 20 cu ft chest freezer today for $100. Already have completed my keezer build a few months back so time for a fermentation chamber/cold storage for the extra kegs. Testing out the size I've already managed to get 6 carboys/brew buckets in it and 3 kegs and there's still plenty of room...

    Love temp probes

Since these will be controlling the temp for multiple containers (4 kegs in the kegerator and 2-3 carboys in the fermentation chamber) I will likely be using the ice pack gel in a jar method so that large of a thermowell wouldn't be necessary but thanks for the link to the site. I've already...

    Love temp probes

Thanks for the responses. I've actually got some left over non rigid copper tubing from a counter flow chiller I did so I'll probably just put the probes in a couple of pieces of that and seal the ends with epoxy which I also have on hand. gotta love being able to finish off a project without...
