i bumped the pressure up a couple PSI, and the beer isn't settling down anymore, and I still get a good pour. i have yet to get a pond pump strong enough to pump the water all the way up. just haven't gotten around to it yet. one of these days.

yeah, i think you're right about the beer settling back down into the keg. what kind of check valves are you talking about? since my lines aren't cooled yet, it isn't so bad that some of the beer settles back down into the keg haha.

well I'm about 90% done. still trying to get my pressure set right so I don't get a foamy pour, but still get good flow from the faucets. I get a pretty good pour right now, but it seems like there is air in my lines or something. Every time I pour a beer, it takes a couple seconds to start, and...

Who uses a pond pump to cool their beer lines?

Especially if their taps are on the floor above the kegerator. I have my kegerator in the basement, and my taps are about 8 ft above, in the kitchen. I ran a loop of 1/4 OD copper line, along with my beer lines, insulated in a bundle, inside 2 inch PVC. My problem is that I can't find a pond...

    Weird Comments at the LHBS

I'm one of the lucky ones with 2 good homebrew shops close by. The grape and grainary is like 15 minutes away, and they have a huge selection of grain. Plus you give them your grainbill and they get it all, mill it for you, and bring it out to you. Then leener's is like 25 minutes away, and...

Having your own beer on tap !

I can't wait until this afternoon... My three taps in my kitchen will be hooked up! Too bad I only have one beer in a keg and ready to go.

    Better than Apfelwein...

everyone that has tried my first batch of AW with the monty yeast has really liked it. I think a lot of the appeal is the simplicity. I must say, my batch with the WLP300 smells amazing. I can't stop sniffing the airlock.

Ended up being a little more than 8 feet, so that I have enough slack to pull the kegs out of the fridge. Since it's 1/4 inch line, I think I'll be fine. If not, I can always shorten it. It's always easier to make it shorter than it is to make it longer. I'm just going to use water for the...

    Better than Apfelwein...

I made a batch the other night using wlp 300 and 2 pounds of corn sugar. How long is fermentation going to take. I was hoping it would be less than the montrachet, but it isn't looking that way. I used yeast nutrient and energizer and it is bubbling away and has a thick krausen.

All the beer lines hooked up, and the gas lines hooked up. I'm keeping the CO2 tank outside, so I still need to drill a hole for that. I also need to build a little shelf in the bottom of the fridge to get the one keg a little further back. My new door that I made. Saving the old one in case...

Started my kegerator setup... pics of the progress...

Well I started working on it Friday. I'm sick of bottling, and I got the fridge for free, so I figured I'd go for it. I ordered a lot of the stuff from micro matic and bought the rest at my LHBS. The fridge is going in the basement and I'm going to run the lines up the laundry chute and mount my...

My first AG brew day, and my new MLT...with pics!

Well it wasn't today, actually 2 weeks ago, but I just got around to posting the pictures. First, here's my 10 gallon rubbermaid MLT. Didn't feel like using a ball valve for whatever reason, so I used one of these valves instead. Here's an exploded view of all the parts I used for the...

    1/4 Beer Line

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/forced-use-1-4-not-3-16-15-beer-line-37060/index5.html#post458780 i think that's the comparison you were talking about. I'm using 1/4 inch lines from micro matic, but my setup isn't finished yet, so I can't comment on any off-flavors.

Cooling beer lines, moisture and mildew?

I'm working on my keg setup, with the fridge in my basement and my taps in my kitchen. I want to insulate the beer lines, and use copper tubing and a pond pump to keep them cold. I will have three beer lines, and two copper tubes. I have some thick insulation that is meant for copper pipe...

Would this be an american brown ale?

I think I might try my original recipe, then a couple others based on your input, all in one or 2 gallon batches. Then I can see how the different ingredients change the beer. Maybe do one batch with just base malt and crystal malt, then another batch adding chocolate, etc. Just add one more...

Would this be an american brown ale?

I'm playing around in beer alchemy, and trying to come up with a brown ale, since I want to start trying to come up with my own recipes. I want to make an american brown ale, and I came up with something that fits all the style guidelines, but I'm pretty new to this whole thing, so tell me what...

What turned you on to the good stuff?

My girlfriend at the time... her mom bought me a 12 pack sampler of Great Lakes Brewing Company's beers for my 21st birthday. Loved all of them, and that was that. Until then, I had always liked Rolling Rock, since that's what just about everyone in my family drinks. I still have a special...
