Man I've bottled 2 batches and I'm ready to keg. Can't imagine 10 years of it. Looks great

This is my take on a cucumber saison.

Cigar City and big breweries like that use a cucumber essence to get that flavor

    Cookie brown ale / stout

Add vanilla and cinnamon, but not too much of either. The two together definitely make you think cookies.

    Efficiency is my Daddy

efficiency isn't a big deal. so yeah, don't get so upset over it.

    Avery Czar

I've emailed Avery in the past about some help cloning one of their beers, and they were very kind and helpful and gave me pretty much the whole recipe. So I'd say that's your best shot!

    first AG reciepe

A hefeweizen can be done in a short amount of time, with just one or two grains, one hop varietal and yeast. Simple stuff.

Sam Adam's Season Pack ... ehhh

I'm as beer of a beer snob as you'll find, spending outrageous amounts of money on silly, overhyped nonsense beers just because I love finding new awesome things. But Sam Adams is pretty damn good. Boston Lager is an excellent beer, as is Noble Pils. I thought the Rye was really good and could...

85% efficiency with new mash stirrer

There's not a direct correlation, as you can get high efficiency without extracting tannins, but yes, that certainly can be a big side-effect of the race for higher and higher efficiency if not done properly

    Belgian Triple

Bump...curious about the sugar. When did you add it? To the boil or during fermentation or...?

The guys at New Belgium are pretty cool

hey, they've only made one good beer, gotta expect them to keep it close to the vest.

    Black IPA....oxymoron?

i like the name Black IPA personally. the oxymoronic nature of it, i think, was part of the whole genesis of the style to begin with.

The guys at New Belgium are pretty cool

yeah, Fat Tire is incredibly boring to me. the hype is because it was one of the earliest recognizable wide-spread craft beers.

The guys at New Belgium are pretty cool

a lot of craft brewers are this way. it's awesome. i've received some very detailed information from Avery, East End, Barley John's, and a handful of others about specific beers. it's one of the things that really defines a "craft" brewer to me.

    Blended Beer. Cheating or not?

fascinating thread. it never occurred to me before this thread that people actually blend two two average beers to create something good. all my experience with blending and beer is from breweries like Lost Abbey, Firestone Walker, Jolly Pumpkin, etc., who brew several different beers, put them...

    10 Gallon Cooler Too Big?

by boilIng the wort, you are basically sanitizing it. it's not necessary to sanitize anything pre-boil.

You might think that 83% efficiency is good

brew it, drink it, and enjoy.

    FG 1.030 too high?

if this were a Dark Lord clone you'd want a FG to be in the 1.075 range :)
