I swapped my breakfast stout after about 1 1/2 weeks into a secondary. There was so much junk at the bottom that there was about 1/2 gallon less than the original 5 gallons. Would it be OK to add water to bring it back up to 5 gallons? Why or why not?
Thanks in advance
I have a hydrometer and the little tube you fill up. Why cant I just sanitize the hydrometer itself and stick it right in the fermentation bucket? Do I have to take some liquid out and fill the tube up?
Is Budweiser original pry off? It's only $15 for a case of 24 here. That's the same price my lhbs is selling empy bottles for. Might as well get free beer with it.
I'm looking to get some empy bottles for homebrewing. I was wondering what inexpensive beer comes in pry off bottles that I can get a case of from the store. I would also like it to be somewhat drinkable.
Thanks!!
Having a little trouble trying to find some debittered black malt. I only need 9oz and the only place i could find online wants to charge more than the malt itself for shipping. Is there anything that I could use that is close to this, or would it be worth it to pay almost 10 bucks for the...
There's a recipe for founder's breakfast stout in the jan/feb 09 issue of brew your own. it's on pg. 11. Looks interesting, and delicious!!! I've never had the original, I think it would be impossible to find down here in MD.
I like the sound of this recipe. I think I will use this recipe to pop my beer brewing cherry.
One quick question though. Which crystal malt should i use? 120L?
So when you add the ingredients at bottling, how do you mix them in? Isn't there a layer of sediment at the bottom? Also, when I boil the priming sugar, can I put the lactose in with it so it is easier to mix?
Is sterilizing necessary when making mead? It wasn't mention in the recipe, but is that because it is implied? Also, about how much honey is 3.5 lbs? I don't have a small scale.
