Specialty IPA: Black IPA Darth Vader - Black IPA

Bubbling away in the Carboy now, I upped the hops a bit, just cause I had extra.

    1st All-Grain - Disaster?

I personally would dump it. Just not worth the risk of picking up a random glass shard on accident. Can't imagine it would be too fun digesting that.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Haven't brewed in over 6 months (just been busy, etc.) and I'm diving back in this weekend with a Milk Stout (Left Hand clone), all grain. My kegs have been empty for too long. Time to start fillin up that pipeline!

OK, I'll admit it. I will probably never brew an IPA.

I have a similar thing, just with wheat and belgian style beers. I've tried them, but haven't gained the taste for them yet. I didn't really like IPA's much at first either, but the more craft beer I drank, the more my palette expanded and eventually I started to love the hops.

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

I just drank my last glass of this, and needless to say I miss it already. The recipe turned out great, best tasting stout I've ever brewed.

    Beer Boycott

I don't mind BMC. They fill their role just fine. I don't really drink any because I'm not a fan, but I won't turn one down if offered (Let's not forget the best beer is free beer!). They're filling the demand of what the majority of beer drinkers want, you can't fault them for that. And as...

    Is My Regulator Busted?

I've been trying to get my dual regulator dialed in. The one on the left works great, I can set it to where I want easily with no problems. The one on the right is giving me all sorts of problems. I turn off the gas, use the valve to release the gas in the gauge. I have the screw completely...

How much does it cost you for your CO2?

Got my 10# tank filled at airgas for 19 bucks, not too bad. No exchange.

    Shank sizes for Perlicks?

I need to know the size of the shanks for the 525SS perlick taps, I was looking on kegconnection and there are all sorts of sizes of shanks.

Ho ho ho! What beer gear did Santa get you for Christmas '09?

No brewing equip from any relatives. BUT I went ahead and splurged on myself and finished off my all-grain equipment. And I just bought a 7.2cu ft Frigidaire chest freezer off craigslist to start off my kegging setup. Damn this hobby gets expensive.

How old are you? How long have you been brewing?

23, coming up on a year of brewing in December. I'd say this site is responsible for feeding the obsession. Damn the DIY forum and the "Show us your kegerator" thread! :drunk:

What does Rye add to a beer?

+1 on Hop Rod Rye, one of my favorite beers out there. I really like the taste the rye adds to the beer, I need to brew one of these soon

    23 Year old CO2 Cylinder

So someone posted a what looks to be a 10 or 20 lb CO2 cylinder on craigslist. It hasn't been tested since '86. About how long do CO2 cylinders last? It's going for 30 bucks, don't know if it's worth the risk. It looks like it's in good condition, though. Worth it? Would you take a shot?

    "Heavy" Beers, drinkability, etc.

Well we all know that bigger beers means a high gravity. But when a lot of people refer to "heavy" beers, what they mean is that they could only drink two or three. Most regular people will say they like Guiness, but it's like drinking a meal, and they could at most drink a couple. When we...
