    need help with flaked oats...

    hello. need some advice please... i have an extract kit coming for an imperial stout as well as some flaked oats. wanna try an oatmeal imperial. i've researched and can't really find a clear answer as to how to prepare the oats for conversion. the grains with the kit are all steeping grains...

    just finished bottling 1st batch!

    haha! i'll see what i can do shonuff! yes, already started my second one. actually moved it to secondary today as well. my fat tire "semi" clone. can't wait for it either! probably will start my caramel porter in the next week or so. all these now-empty buckets and carboys gettin on my nerves!

    just finished bottling 1st batch!

    just finished up bottling my first batch, an amarillo amber ale. it was actually very exciting! i used lots of tips taken from here and it wasn't as bad as my newbie self thought it would be. ended up with 45.5 bottles. now in storage for 3 weeks. i'll keep you guys posted. just wanna say thanks...

    ideal s.g. to bottle?

    cool... thanks guys! you asked about the temperature... the o.g. was taken right before i pitched the yeast and the wort was cooled to 75. i'll check it in a couple of days then since i'm dry hopping it too. oh yea, it's an amarillo amber ale. tried a little and damn, i can't wait! it's good!

    ideal s.g. to bottle?

    is there some sort of range i should shoot for as far as my specific gravity before bottling? don't want any bombs on my hands. think around 1.010 or so is good or should i wait a little longer? ale has been in secondary for about 16 days. o.g. was 1.052 @ 75. now it's 1.010 @ 66. any thoughts...

    i'm an hvac guy so i had the extra stuff to work with. made mine from 20 ft. of 3/8 copper and about 6 ft. of vinyl tubing. looks just like nimrod's only a little smaller. it's easier if you stretch the roll out flat on the ground and get something like a 1 gal. bucket and roll it around that...
