Anyone have some pics demonstrating how to fasten to a Wilser Mesh BIAB bag for hoisting?

What do you have it attached to up in your cabinet? I have a very similar stovetop set up, and I always take it off the stove to drain (very annoying). This configuration looks like something I'd want to try and replicate!

Lol, gotta cover my bases! But yes 😁

Help with last-minute wedding beer recipe: I have too many hops!

I am getting married in three weeks, and I just now decided I want to serve a homebrewed beer at the reception. We already will have a keg of my sparkling hydromel (session mead), bottles of my blueberry wine at the tables, and a cooler of miscellaneous commercial beers. However, I have two more...

anyone growing hops in Phoenix, AZ?

Fascinating! Science can generate extra interest by overturning common misconceptions. However, it's rarer to then see a response to those novel claims that says, "Hey, actually it's still not really viable, even though we should it's possible." That link has some very interesting information!

anyone growing hops in Phoenix, AZ?

According to the research, there's no negative impact on yield or growth or anything else. I also don't think it's just a novelty: there are outdoor hop farms in Brazil that are using giant floodlights at night to keep hops growing even though they normally wouldn't be able to, based on the...

anyone growing hops in Phoenix, AZ?

I'm attempting to grow some wild-collected neo-Mexicanus hops on Phoenix this year, and I'm not super optimistic about what will happen in the heat. However, I want to publicly note that hops DO NOT need cold temperatures or dormancy periods. Seasonality is literally just based on the...

Yup, I did this recently, and I have a bunch of sprouting wild rhizome bits now!

Fermentis Safbrew LA-01 Recipe Testing - Low Alcohol

Huh! Yeah, I have not been impressed by the Athletic cans that I've purchased either... Between steps 3 and 4, do you wait until it's carbonated? In other words, what's the purpose of step 3?

Fermentis Safbrew LA-01 Recipe Testing - Low Alcohol

Yeah, how do you deal with this in low ABV beers? Whenever I make hop water, it often ends up being way more sharply bitter than I would expect. Like, I somehow get less aroma and more bitterness, even though it's never heated up above 170 at any point in the process!

    Drying yeast

Is it weird that I have a similar, irrational desire to be able to make beer in the apocalypse? I want to know that I could sustainably brew in super-primitive scenarios where all the supply chains have totally failed, but I doubt that will ever actually happen. It's why I have an instinctive...

    Drying yeast

Yeah, this seems plausible, but also a ****-ton of work. I think using some sort of laminar flow hood (even if it's DIY) would be a good enough middle ground. Essentially you just need a box with a fan blowing through a HEPA filter on one side and an open side opposite from it.

    Drying yeast

Yeah, I made a gallon batch using the kveik that I had dried in 2020 (I didn't refrigerate it). I was away in temporary housing for the summer, and I was planning on using the yeast cake from this gallon for future home-away-from-home brews (essentially a 1 gallon starter that I could drink)...

    Wood-Aged Beer Pirate Strong Ale

I'm bottling my first batch for Xmas: it's the first brew I've made and designed vinyl labels for! Sorry for the bad photo quality, but they all have one metallic gold tooth. My picnic tap broke after the first tiny pour from the keg, but it seems good! Vaguely wish I added more hops, but...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Interesting! I recently did the opposite: I made a beer with extra apple juice and some of the "second runnings" (soaking the pulp in water and re-pressing). So far it smells INCREDIBLE, especially compared to my nasty-ass-smelling ciders that are brewing alongside it. So I'm hopeful!

    Wood-Aged Beer Pirate Strong Ale

If it works, it works! EDIT: But I've ONLY seen it listed as an aroma hop, not even dual purpose! Huh, other sources say it's DEFINITELY a bittering hop. Weird, but whatever! I was going to use galena regardless...

    Wood-Aged Beer Pirate Strong Ale

It looks like the original had 5 lb of 2-row? I thought the "extract version" had NO base malt. I didn't realize that malt was just there to convert the other malts! I think I'll be making some for Xmas gifts this year, quite excited. ALSO! Isn't Galena an aroma hop, only used for late...

When going for an extract version, do you mini-mash the cara-aroma and torrified wheat?
