    Grassy bitterness in IPA

Thanks for the reply, i will read through the paper :) But why did the same dry hopping amount, type of hops and procedure not produce the grassy off flavor i got in this one? May it be because of the 2,5% more alcohol in this one? Because I have heard that alcohol dissolve the hop oils more if...

    Grassy bitterness in IPA

So i just keged and carbonated my first own written recipe. I was looking for a fruity hop forward but still bitter Westcoast IPA. And now I have actually tasted the beer, it's just as bitter as I wanted it to be. But i get a grassy type of bitter taste to the beer and a really small almost not...

    Adjusting salts in Brewfather BIAB

I need help to set my adjustments for my salts in my BIAB system on Brewfather. First i mash for 75min. Then i mash out for 15 min. To faster reach the mash out temp i add boiling water. So i will have to calculate for that water I'm adding. I'm thinking of adding all water needed to the...

What is the meaning of /hl in pitch rate?

Hi folks! I have what I believe is a simple question. That makes me feel stupid for not knowing. I'm following a recipe that they say the pitch rate is 60g/hl. What does hl stands for?

Loosing carbonation after pouring from a keg

Hi folks! It seems like i have a problem with the carbonation leaving my beer to fast. When pouring my kölsch to a glass there is a great amount of carbonation. And the first sips there is alot of carbonation. But it seems like the carbonation is leaving the glass very fast so when drinking...

    Calibration Ispindel problem

I have now figgured it out. I used a real high ABV recipe when i tested the ispindle. Brewfather scales the readings from what seems realistic. That means if Brewfather know that the OG is 1080 and you throw in the ispindle in a 1020 solution you will get a graph in the wrong scale kind of. Hope...

Hi Folks! I bought a ispindel one week ago. The guy that sold me the ispindle had off-set calibrated it. I have just gone trough 90minutes of calibration by mixing water and sugar and messuring the tilt. Now when im done and have connected it to brewfather and the numbers are waaaay off! I have...

    Little/no krausen in my fermenter

Before I have always seen a high and thick krousen on top and now this time almost nothing. But maybe I'm just freaking out over nothing. All the other beers I have made have always been with higher ABV. Thanks for the quick reply!

    Little/no krausen in my fermenter

Hey folks! I'm brewing a 4,5% ABV IPA with pretty much hops in it. Most added at flame out. I'm starting to wonder if I messed up somewhere since there are no krausen on top in my fermenter. I pitched the yeast 5 days ago, day 3 it looked like it was fermenting quite vigorously. At day 4 it...

How to use a hop spider & hops in my fermenter

Hi folks! Yesterday I finished my first ever grain batch of beer. Brew day went well, som smaller issues but overall all went well. Scroll down to the bottom for the actual question. I used the BIAB method and for the hops I used a 300 micron hop spider. At flame out I was supposed to add...

Start out with high gravity to lower it later

Hey folks, i have gathered tons of information for a couple of weeks now. All the necessary BIAB equipment is ordered and on it's way. And I'm really looking forward brewing my fist all grain beer! But a topic i have stumbled upon a couple of times is about hitting the right gravity when done...

Conditioning in keg vs the fermentor

Integrering! I guess priming the keg with sugar is for the yeast to be able to clean up? How much sugar would you recomend for 5 gallon/19L 9.06%ABV stout?

Conditioning in keg vs the fermentor

I have heard that letting a stout mature in higher temperatures will let it mature mutch faster. But do they mean 70+ for stouts or is it the same for stout that i should keep it below 70?
