If juice doesnt say "No preservatives" does that mean it contains them? Slow growth?

I bought a few bottles of Cranberry juice from the $.99 store last week. I carefully read the bottles, they did not say "No preservatives" but the ingredients were only Cranberry juice, H20, and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). I added my sugar, nutrient, and acid blend. Waited over night with my...

What does using two packets of yeast do?

Ferment twice as fast? Or does it throw off the taste of wine? Just wondering, the GF picked up two packets of the same red star yeast by accident and I dont think the yeast will last long enough for our next batch in the fridge and I hate to see it go to waste :)

How do you know when you have an accurate SG when the wine is so carbonated?

So for about 3 weeks the SG of my concord wine has been 1.010. Each time I check the SG I notice a good coat of CO2 bubbles clinging to the sides of the beaker. How do I know if I am taking a accurate SG or if the CO2 bubbles are throwing off my level? Or maybe the extreme carbonation is...

Sooo you know how too much of a good thing is bad? Well its true with vodka too!

Long story short, the GF didnt think I added the vodka to take up space in the carboy, so she added some whe racking. So yea, our batch of concord is a little hairy to say the least. maybe 700mils. When I was done taking a SG reading I went and cut a cup full with some regualr grape juice...
