    10 gallon batch fermentor

I have a pair of these as well, or their "little brothers", to be precise. Never a problem, clean easy, racking in mine is a breeze (since mine has a spigot on the bottom corner). It came as a "deluxe winemaking equipment kit" a few...umm..maybe more than a few years back. John

    Bulk aging?

Thanks a bunch...and I shall, of course, have the pyre for the directions, but the dance?...I think not, with a pair of left feet and rhythm to match. John

    Bulk aging?

I am trying to do some wine, specifically a Sangiovese kit, and since I have a spare carboy or 12, wanted to try bulk aging. I *think* that should happen after stabilization, etc., in the spot on the directions where bottling goes, but wanted to make sure, so I am asking here. Would that be...

What's your favorite online store for beer kits?

I have had good luck with Midwest, but seeing the Austin comments above, may have to try them for my next ingredient buy.. John

    priming sugar

Nahh, your education was not a waste...but then again, they did teach you that graphite and diamonds are both the same stuff? It is much the same here, with slightly different crystalline structures between sucrose, fructose, dextrose, maltose, lactose...all sugar, but a smidgeon different when...

    First Brew...did I make a poor choice?

Thanks to all of you for the advice...after reading the fora, I decided to wait till Thursday or Friday to start the brew. This was due to seeing that I should have a rather effective method of cooling the wort when the boil is through...and no real good method was apparent here in the house...

    First Brew...did I make a poor choice?

Good morning... I was amazed at the number, and quality of replies to this..I think I'll stay..*chuckles* As for what grains they are, I am not certain, since this ingredient pack was made by the local HBS. The bag is just labelled "mixed grain". The rest is: John Bull Hopped Dark LME...

    First Brew...did I make a poor choice?

Thanks for all of the suggestions, and I think I will do the little extra extraction with a bit more water, as you suggested, ajf. Now, tomorrow, we brew...*chuckles, and goes off to ponder the journey from hither...to yon and beyond* John

    First Brew...did I make a poor choice?

Ask, and you shall receive... "Heat 1/4 gallon of water in a stainless steel saucepan to 155 degrees F. Add crushed grain, remove from heat, put a lid on the pot, and wrap in towels to insulate. Leave it alone for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, put LME in hot water. Place 1.5 gallons of water in...

    First Brew...did I make a poor choice?

Good afternoon, one and all... I am now in posession of all of the basic goodies needed to start down the road to my very own brew, but after reading through a few threads, I am a wee bit concerned. The ingredient "kit" I requested and got was one for Irish Stout, which is my absolute...

    Another new guy...

Good day, ladies and gents... I just decided that I wanted a hobby, and the home-brewing one sounded really good, a lot better than knitting (at least for me it is). I am going to make both beer and it's variants, as well as wine here, and so, found this forum to give me more in the way of...
