    Moving from Utah to WNY

I've been brewing for a while. My wife and I have decided to move to Buffalo/Niagara Falls where I grew up. I'm looking forward to meeting up with some homebrewers in the area.

What's your favorite late night snack after having a few beers?

Mine is pickled herring with sour cream on a Ritz cracker. Hands down it is number one!

Something to do with Brandon O's Graff...

While writing another post tonight I had the crazy idea of heating up some Graff in the microwave. One minute and twenty seconds in a coffee cup got it to the perfect temperature. I have found my new night cap. I added a little honey and a slice of lemon after I took it out of the microwave...

How cloudy can a saison be?

Style guidelines seem somewhat vague. What is acceptable? My saison that I brewed using WLP 565/550 is fairly cloudy. It's almost like a wit. Is this acceptable? It tastes great!

Picking up my keg fridge tomorrow...how should I pimp it out???

I finally found a fridge in the classifieds for $50 that is super clean. Getting a beer fridge from someone in Provo, Utah. How classic is that? I'm thinking that I want to put four taps on the front. Any tips? It's just a basic Hotpoint fridge with a freezer on top (for glassess and hops).

    Priming with Orval dregs question...

I just put ten gallons of a Belgian strong golden ale in secondary in two different carboys. I am leaving them there for three weeks at 32*F and then plan on kegging one and bottling the other. I would like to bottle condition with the dregs from two bottles of Orval as discussed in the last...

Who has added Orval when priming???

I did a ten gallon batch of a Belgian strong golden ale and am thinking about kegging half and bottling the other half. I'd like to add a the dregs from a couple bottles of Orval at bottling to get the brett profile. My OG was 1.073 and I finished at 1.008 in primary. I'm going to rack to...

What cooler to use for 10 gallon batches?

I'm going to do my first ten gallon batch today (maybe) with a 20.5 lb. grain bill and just realized that my MLT might not be big enough. I just filled it with 10 gallons of water and found that I have little space for grain. It's a 50 quart Ice Cube cooler. I have another 50 quart cooler that I...

    $85 for a new 20 lb. CO2 tank

Is that a good deal? I got a five pound tank today with the system I ordered from Midwest but when I went to get the tank filled the guy that owns the CO2 place told me he'd sell me a new 20 lb. aluminum tank for $85. That seemed like a good deal to me. What do you guys think?

Star San acidity and yeast collection...

Anyone know the PH of properly mixed Star San? I made a batch of hefeweizen a few days ago which fermented pretty hard. I took off the airlock and put a blow off tube on which went into a half gallon jar half filled with Star San solution. This evening I took the blow off tube off, put a regular...

Grain mill and bulk grain or kegging system?

I've been planning on buying some bulk grain and a mill for a while and I'm ready to make the purchase. However, on Monday I bottled ten gallons of beer and started thinking about how nice kegging would be. I've been looking at the Brew Logic 2 keg with dual air manifolds and I'm really tempted...

    Rogue Yellow Snow IPA clone

Does this sound about right? I haven't been able to find a recipe online but Rogue kind of puts the recipe on the bottle: 9 lbs. Maris Otter 1.5 lbs. Melanoidan Malt 1 lb. CaraFoam 1.5 oz. Amarillo hops FWH 1.5 oz. Amarillo hops @ 30 minutes 1 oz. Amarillo hops @ 2 minutes Pitch...

I had a brain fart while buying grain...

I bought ten pounds of maris otter and three pounds of 50L crystal malt and ground it together before it dawned on me that I only wanted one pound of crystal for my pale ale. Would you add 10 or 20 more pounds of maris otter and make a couple batches or one 15 gallon batch or would you brew it...

    Checking in from Utah

I've been brewing almost a year. I did two extract batches and jumped into all grain. I love brewing and I love my beer!
