Better mouth feel for Coopers or Muntons kits?

Awesome thank you for that Its interesting you mentioned that as I was going to be making a Muntons Irish Stout for my brother over the weekend and as I'm not much of a stout drinker I will definitely have to do that.

Review the Pre-Hopped Kits (lazy man's beer)

I recently started Mangrove Jacks Chocolate Ale craft beer kit. Just tried 2 yesterday and HOLY COW!!! Delicious, not much of a chocolate flavour, its more nutty, I would place it almost at a hazelnut. But I highly recommend that kit. It comes with Empire M15 Ale yeast and I used 2 LBS of Amber...

    Carbonation Issues

And thank you for confirming about different yeasts responding differently come the carbonation process.

    Carbonation Issues

Typically it would be the primary for 2 weeks. then a secondary carboy for 2 weeks before bottling.

    Carbonation Issues

But would there be a reason why aging these batches of beer compared to my other batches turned out with significantly different results with all the other processing the same other then the yeast and the kits?

    Carbonation Issues

So I currently have 2 batches currently bottle conditioning and they have been for about 2 and a half weeks at around 70F. Of which I used 1cup of dextrose for priming with just enough hot water to dissolve it all and when bottling would give my beer a stir every 6-8 bottles as I do with all my...

    Stuck Fermentation?

Thank you both for that information. I will definitely have to keep that link on hand going forward.

    Stuck Fermentation?

May I ask why you mention "making sure it wasn't a refractometer" I use a refractometer that is intended for beer use and that according to the instructions is perfectly calibrated. Yet I still question my gravities as from what its reading I'm making 2.5-3.5% beer but it gets me pretty hammered...

Review the Pre-Hopped Kits (lazy man's beer)

For the Coopers real ale kit I believe I just used the supplied yeast (didnt keep the best records when I started that batch), but I started going to abit better HBS and getting better yeasts depending on the beer type. I found the 7g packet did the job but could of been better. I believe I did...

Review the Pre-Hopped Kits (lazy man's beer)

I only brew the pre-hopped kits due to mainly time restraints and currently have 6 batches in the works, I recently did a Coopers Real Ale with 2 LBS of sparkling Amber DME and about a cup of Dextrose just to bring the OG up to about 1.042. I let this one age longer then any of the other ones I...

Better mouth feel for Coopers or Muntons kits?

I also do Mangrove Jacks but most the time I do Coopers or Muntons just because its a little cheaper and I don't got to go all the way across the city.

Better mouth feel for Coopers or Muntons kits?

Yeah I know I should, its just a matter of getting DME in 1 LB bags not wanting to spend the extra for 1 LB when I only use a cup or 2. meanwhile I already have a bag of dextrose that I primarily use as priming sugar when bottling.

Better mouth feel for Coopers or Muntons kits?

Hello all and thanks in advance for any advice you can contribute I've been brewing for about a year and a half now and am always slightly disappointed with the mouth feel my brews produce. For awhile I was making blondes but have switched up to doing more ales. Does anyone have any advise on...

Double can irish stout with 500g lactose yay or any?

I was thinking of doing the same thing actually. And I haven't used lactose before but a good friend of mine has when he made a cream ale, it gave it very good body, and great head retention. Let me know if you have since done the double Irish stout with lactose and how it turned out Cheers!

    How long an Extract Brewer?

I have been brewing extract kits for about a year and a half now, for the longest time I used dextrose only and have recently started spending the little extra to switch to DME. I want to switch to all grain when I eventually get my own place and have more room to work on it. IMO I think the...

    What are you drinking now?

Right now... or rather after work today I got a few Coopers real ale made with 2lbs amber DME. I sampled one the other week and although the carbonation wasn't quite right; the taste was awesome. First homebrew that didn't have strong fusel alcohols present so I'm excited. Nice red color to it...

Anyone have tips for mixing in priming sugar?

What I like to do is after the beer has been fermenting for a week or two I rack it into a carboy, after letting it condition in secondary for a few weeks depending on the brew I'm doing, I use gelatine and a cold crash to get any remaining solid particles to drop to the bottom of the carboy. 2...

    Anyone from Winnipeg out there?

Looks like this thread hasn't been active for awhile, another Winnipeger here. Started brewing about a year ago and so far have only used the kits such as coopers, muntons etc... where its add water and walk away. I get most of my stuff from Brewer's direct because its in my area but started...

Gelatin finings, maybe I messed up

I guess I should of mentioned that I did a small cold crash to it as I live up in Canada I had placed my carboy in my unheated garage for the full day of adding the gelatin; put it in the garage around 7:30 am last Wednesday, did the gelatin around 8pm and left the beer in the garage until the...

Gelatin finings, maybe I messed up

I used gelatin for the first time about a week ago where I heated up the water (3/4 of a cup) to just under a simmer where it was hot enough that I could feel the heat while hovering my hand over the measuring cup, from there added about 1 tsp to the water and mixed it until fully dissolved. 2...
