    Hops Direct Service

I placed an order from hops direct the other day (the 15th), and noticed on the site that it says: "We began the current harvest at the end of August and are in full production! While the crew and staff are running around the clock you may notice a slower turn around time on your orders. Be...

    NY Craft Beer Week

I'm going to try to get to a few events. Got my Passport last night and I'm ready to hit up a bunch of locations for $2 pints! Should be a good week! If anyone else is interested, here's the link. \\\ NY CRAFT BEER WEEK | HOME ///

    It's My Money - Rant

So I decided yesterday to purchase a new laptop. Knowing that it was going to be a large purchase, and having had problems with other banks in the past, I called my bank to ensure that it wouldn't be a problem. The bank raised my daily spending limit, and told me all was well. I ordered the...

    Burners: KAB4 vs KAB6

Anyone have experience with both? They have the same output, so as far as I can tell it's just the size that's different. Anyone have any input on this?

    Opinions

I've had mixed opinions on this. Wanted to see what you guys thought. Yes. I am aware that a lemur is not a monkey.

    Souring infected beers

I see some people trying to salvage infected beers by adding bugs. Just wondering if anyone has had success with this. I have an infected batch and though I haven't tasted it yet, was curious as to what people's experience adding bugs was. Yes I know it's infected. Yes I know why it's...

    Nips

Anyone know offhand if Nips use standard size caps? Was thinking about shipping some sample packs to people and was thinking that nips would be a good way to ship a variety of beers without weighing a ton. Just have to find someone who drinks swill to drain them for me.

    Classic Beer Style Series: Lambic

I just picked this up at my LHBS, and was wondering if anyone else has read it? It's copyright 1990, and I believe it may be out of print, but it seems to have some great information in it and details brewing with barrels. It also has recipes for extract, all grain, and full barrel all grain...

    Brew Rig Ideas?

I'm going to have a bit of money coming in, and am trying to determine what type of brew rig I ideally want to have. My current setup is as follows: 60qt Boil Kettle / Strike Water Kettle (with valve / glass / themom) 60qt Cooler Mash Tun Kick A Banjo Burner (on loan now, but buying my own...

    1/2" NPT Thermometer

Just got my fittings from bargainfittings.com and need a 1/2" NPT thermometer to put in the sight glass / therm fitting. According to Wayne at BF, it should have at least a 4" probe. So any thoughts on the best place to get one of these? Do probe thermometers differ vastly in quality? Thanks!

    Would you still buy beer?

I've seen a lot of people say things like "Wow, you must never have to buy beer!" both on these boards, and when I tell people I homebrew, so I was wondering... For those of you who have a full pipeline, have you stopped buying commercial? For those that don't yet, would you stop buying...

    Chiller conversion question

I was looking at the DIY counterflow chiller instructions and wondering if it would be possible to convert my DIY immersion chiller into a counterflow without straightening it out. I'm just wondering how difficult it would be to slide the hose over the copper while coiled. Is it worth it, or...

Hose Woes - Check your connections!

So I racked a pale ale into a keg last night and decided to clean out my lines while I was working on beer stuff. I cleaned and sanitized my lines, and put everything back together. Once I was done putting everything together, I adjusted the CO2 levels for the Pale Ale and the cider and...

Quick and Easy Chicken (With Beer)

I tend not to measure anything when I cook, but this is a pretty simple meal and you can adjust to taste. Total prep time: 2-5 minutes Total cook time: 20 minutes 1.5 lbs chicken breasts (slice thinly or butterfly) 6-8 ounces beer (I used Abita Turbodog, but any good beer will work...
